Pretty fly for a white guy! Following the announcement of the first 105 acts we are pleased to confirm The Offspring as our next headliner for #GMM26. On Thursday 18 June, the Californian punk rockers will wrap up proceedings on the South Stage with a set chock-full of classics like ‘Self Esteem’, ‘Come Out and Play’ and ‘The Kids Aren’t Alright’.
Today, post black metal pioneers HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY have released the re-recordings of their two first albums “Harakiri For The Sky” and “Aokigahara”. As they have never been fully happy with the production of these two early albums, the duo agreed that it was time to breathe a second life into them and re-record these “MMXXII Editions” in time for their 10th band anniversary – with fuller, more dynamic sound and better recording possibilities that they have now.
In the past decade, HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY have become pioneers of the post black metal movement, gained a significant worldwide following with “III: Trauma” and even entered the German charts on #4 with their latest album “Maere”. For the 10th anniversary of their debut album, the Austrian duo, consisting of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter M.S. as well as vocalist and lyricist J.J., will take a deep dive into their past:
The malicious “Mӕre” has come to haunt you in your sleep and might be the reason why you haven’t been able to breathe at night for quite a few months now. With their latest album being finally released today, Austria’s blackgaze pioneers HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY perfectly capture the beauty of paralysis and despair and release this fifth studio album right in time for their 10th band anniversary.
Austrian melodic black metal act Harakiri For The Sky have made quite an impact within the atmospheric post-metal scene since their formation a decade ago and gained a dedicated following as a result of this, now they are back with their highly anticipated fifth album and follow up to 2018’s critically acclaimed record ‘Arson’ with ‘Mӕre’. Mӕre is a malicious demon from folklore which creeps in and sleeps on people’s chests during the night, causing breathlessness and anxiety. This state and concept seem more appropriate than ever given the crisis in the world currently and this new release acts as the perfect incensed soundtrack to that chaos.
Today, HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY unveil another excerpt of their studio album “Mӕre”, which will soon be released on February 19th. This time, the Austrian post metal pioneers present a cover version of PLACEBO’s alternative rock hit ‘Song To Say Goodbye’ that fits just perfectly into the band’s depressive post black metal world.
