CELLAR DARLING announce UK/EU tour dates for October 2023

Folk prog trio CELLAR DARLING have revealed details of a run of headline shows throughout the UK and Europe for this October. Support for all shows will come from IAMTHEMORNING and MAER.

The band comments “After the incredible shows we got to share with our fans in the UK and North America at the end of last year, it was time for us to retreat and write new music — and yes, we’ll soon share more on how that is going. But in the meantime, we just can’t sit still! So we decided to fulfil a wish we had for some time and invited the incredible Iamthemorning to share the stage with us for a series of very special autumn evenings. And it just so happens that our very own Anna Murphy has recently released a collaboration with Iamthemorning’s Marjana Semkina in the form of the dark folk/chamber prog project Maer, who will be making an exclusive appearance as well. It’ll be magical and we can’t wait to see you all there!”

CELLAR DARLING release new video for their single “DANCE”

And in the end we all dance, laughing, into our doom: with a stirring coup de grâce of artful short film and extended song, the Swiss band CELLAR DARLING herald a new, furiously audiovisual era of their work.

Already a few weeks ago, CELLAR DARLING released their new piece “DANCE” about the mysterious dancing plague of 1518, an eleven-minute mammoth project that resembles a Celtic prog symphony more than a conventional rock song. Equally courageous and visionary, the trio of Anna MurphyMerlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi is now breaking new ground visually, as well: the corresponding video could not be further from a typical clip. Instead, CELLAR DARLING take us into a nightmarish forest scenery, somewhere between TOOL and Shakespeare, between dark fairy tale and contaminated apocalypse. But in this case, we ourselves are the virus.

Download Festival is the UK’s biggest, friendliest and most diverse rock/metal festivals and it gets bigger and better each year. This year particularly had a strong theme of environmental sustainability, with their new recycling scheme for beer glasses, using plastic reusable cups which you could keep and reuse or give back and made for a nice memento along with the introduction of Greenpeace’s Eco Campsite. Viewing platforms for wheelchair-users were available across all stages and British Sign Language interpreters on two, again highlighting the festivals diversity and how it accommodates for everyone which is great to see.
