WDFD Records Ltd are delighted to announce that Midlands-based rock band Anonymous have signed to the label, and will join THEIA in spearheading their plans to bring young purveyors of the classic rock sound to old and new listeners.
Quotes: “That’s more like it! Tight musicianship and well-constructed songs.” Paul Anthony, Planet Rock
“An authentic blend of Rock and Blues, featuring powerful vocals and clever songs Birmingham Live Bands (BLB)
“Infectious performances, with richly created chords, ear-smacking hooks and breaks, blended with plenty of dazzling guitar work.” Music in Leicester Magazine
The recently formed label has shown a clear intention to seek out bands who share common traits – great music and a hard work ethic of course, but also a desire to work with other bands for the greater good rather than in competition. The ethos of WDFD Records Ltd is “we are stronger together”.
Within a year of their inception, Vrona had already performed at Bloodstock andMammothfest, and shared stages with the likes of Dorje, Cambion, The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing and more. Their first EP ‘A Lapse In Time’ released in early 2016 gained them critical acclaim with their instrumental offerings being compared to a vocal-less mix of Karnivool, TesseracT and Tool.
2017 sees a marked change in the band as they release two new tracks on October 25th and unveil a new twist to their ever evolving sound – the introduction of vocalist Jamie Ball.
The two track release entitled ‘Impermanence’ still showcasesVrona‘s brand of progressive ambient metal. However, the addition of vocals, and the acceptance of more outside influences into their melting pot shows that the band are not afraid to change things up.
Their monster third album ‘Born A Dying Breed’ will be released on 3rd Nov and it sees the band really ramping things up a notch, huge chunky hard rock tracks intermingled with some sublime songs showcasing their lighter touch, this truly is a fabulous album and should see them rise through the ranks with speed.
Northants rockers STORMBRINGER formed in summer 2011 when founding members Jon Quantrill, Dom Wallace, Ash Smith and Darren McCullagh got together to write and create what would become the 2013 debut album ‘MMXIII’, recorded with vocalist Mike Stockley. A mix of classic rock and heavy metal with a contemporary edge saw Stormbringer quickly set themselves apart.
The Cherry Dolls release their utterly wonderful track ‘Blister‘ as a lead in to the release of their album ‘Viva Los Dolls‘ on Golden Robot Records on November 24th.
This mellow single is a sublime tune from The Cherry Dolls, a melancholic touch of brilliance (tongue firmly in cheek too!) infiltrating their normally more full on punky stylings. Simply stunning & one not to be missed.
“Raw dog dirty realness as Rock ‘n’ Roll should be! I would describe this band as heavily influenced by The Stooges, MC5, Johnny Thunders or New York Dolls, of course there are many bands out there with similar influences, The Cherry Dolls are a band who gets it right. I love the sort of country and western meets old school punk track …….. but I really dig the whole album! I suspect these catz would be really awesome live!”
Heavy Psych Sounds is proud to announce it will work with California fuzz/psych legends Nebulato reissue three of the band’s most landmark offerings. Originally released in 1998, 1999 and 2002, respectively, Let it Burn, To the Center and Dos EPs comprise an essential trilogy for worshipers of riffs and heavy desert rock, and will be made available early in 2018 as special editions to mark the 20th anniversary of the band.
When guitarist/vocalist Eddie Glass joined forces with bassist Mark Abshire and drummer Ruben Romano — both previously of Fu Manchu — they found magic together and no one before and no other band since has been able to capture that sound in the same way, though plenty have tried. With Let it Burn, they established a place for themselves between druggy psych and forward-driving fuzz rock, and as they moved through the subsequent Sun Creature EP, their split with Sweden’s Lowrider and the To the Center full-length the next year, they only grew, progressed and refined this approach into something all the more their own.

About Brown Acid: The Fifth Trip:
We’re back! And the hits just keep coming. For the fifth lysergic journey, we’ve assembled 10 heavy slabs of obscure rock the likes of which have never been seen before… not in this form anyhow. And as usual, the tracks from these impossibly rare records have all been fully cleared through the artists themselves. We’ve gone to great lengths to get the best possible master sources, the worst case scenario being an original 45. ‘Cuz it ain’t worth doing unless you do it right.
