Norwegian multi-instrumentalist SYLVAINE deals with the extreme range of emotions this human existence has to offer, as a result of being in constant conflict with oneself and struggling to adapt to this place we call our own. The project serves as an emotional catharsis for the artist, revealing the eternal longing for something more residing within its melodies, capturing the feeling of being trapped and restraint by the human form.

Mayhem embark on second part of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas tour in Europe!

MAYHEM are kicking off the second leg of their European “Purgatorium”-tour that will again see the complete performance of their black metal landmark debut album ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’ tomorrow, March 24th at Nöjesfabriken in Karlstad, Sweden. The black onslaught will continue to ravage throughout fifteen more countries before its final curtain in Munich, Germany on the 16th of April.

Regarding this tour, legendary MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar commented: “The first time I ever heard from Mayhem was in ’91-’92 when I received a letter from Euronymous. I did not know that message was going to change my whole life. They were looking for a new vocalist to replace Dead on their debut album. Of course, I agreed to their offer and in 1993 we recorded ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas’, which to me remains one of the most magical albums of all time. The music opened some unfathomable dimensions that reached beyond what we were able to handle and it unleashed a complete chaos, which ended up at burning churches and eventually a murder within the band. It was almost impossible to release that record, but when it finally came out under the sun in ’94, it left a lasting impact on the whole metal scene. The so-called “2nd wave of black metal” was born in the cold and dark underground of Oslo. At the same time MAYHEM collapsed and got burned down as well. From those ashes, the band had to rise again, when MAYHEM reunited with some old and new members. Yet that album always remained so strong and so unique that even after my reunion with MAYHEM in 2004, we were still not comfortable to present it live in full. Time passed and the whole band got stronger and more experienced. In 2016 we suddenly felt that it was time to finally play the whole record in order to unleash That Beast after more than two decades. ‘De Mysteriis Dom Sathans’ will soon become alive!”

MAYHEM are not available for interviews during this tour.

Season of Mist Signs “1349”

Season of Mist  announce the signing of 1349. The Norwegian black metal stalwarts have already been signed to this label in the US and now extend the deal to a worldwide representation.

Regarding their signing, 1349 comment: “We are currently in the early creative stages of our new art offering and we are exited to confirm that we have extended our agreement with partners Season of Mist – this time handling the release worldwide.”

When 1349 rose from the ashes of ALVHEIM in 1997, the band was driven by a deep desire to keep the black metal flame burning in all its rebellious glory. The Norwegians set out with the declared aim to remain true to the original spirit of their scene, which they saw heading into all the wrong directions.

Conceived around the founding members, which consisted of vocalist and first drummer Ravn, guitarist Tjalve, and Seidemann on bass, 1349 completed their line-up with the addition of guitarist Archaon in 1999 and SATYRICON drum-legend Frost, after the latter recorded a demo and the debut album with the band in 2001.

When their debut ‘Liberation’ was finally unleashed in 2003, 1349 took the world by storm with their intense blend of old school black metal soundscapes and ultra-fast aggression. Further assaults followed in rapid succession. ‘Beyond the Apocalypse’ (2004) and ‘Hellfire’ (2005) cemented the Norwegians’ reputation as one of the strongest acts in the already peaked scene, where they managed to carve out a claim for their own.

Founding member Tjalve decided to focus on his band PANTHEON I and 1349have since continued as a four-piece – occasionally adding renowned guest guitarists. Extensive touring aided the growth of a massive following, which started to seriously reach across the Atlantic, when 1349 opened for reunited metal legends Celtic Frost in North America in 2006.

In an impressive demonstration that dedication to the origins and early principles of black metal does not have to mean nostalgia and stagnation,1349 considerably widened their sonic palette with the next full-length ‘Revelations of the Black Flame’ (2009), which was co-mixed by iconic CELTIC FROST mastermind Tom Gabriel “Warrior” Fischer.

Their newly found darker and more ambient side, was further explored and interwoven with the earlier sonic approach, which 1349 dub “aural hellfire” on the following ‘Demonoir’ (2010). Extensive touring and performances at prestigious festivals around the globe filled the period from 2010 to 2012.

‘Massive Cauldron of Chaos’ (2013) was the next milestone in the Norwegian’s merciless advance, scoring excellent reviews and sparking more festival shows as well as extended touring, which also brought 1349 for the first time to Australia and New Zealand. Now the band is preparing to unleash more “aural hellfire” onto the expecting world via Season of Mist.
