ENTOMBED A.D. – Release New Album In August

Nobody can cheat death. And nobody can cheat at death metal either. Flying the flag for balls-out and murderous death metal since 2014, Entombed A.D. are poised to return with one of 2019’s most devastating, deathly statements. Their new album will be entitled “Bowels Of Earth” and will be released on August 30th!

“Bowels Of Earth” represents a huge leap forward for these gnarly veterans. Faster, tighter and more viscerally crushing than anything they have produced before.

“We have our Brazilian friend, Guilherme, coming into the band on guitar and” laughs LG. “We’ve been getting energy from that. This recording was a lot more focused and straightforward. We kept things simple, but still with thought behind everything. And there was absolutely no stress!”

Keep your eyes peeled for more info on “Bowels of Earth”!

Batushka Lawsuit Update & One Side Releases New Music

BATUSHKA

The bizarre split of two sides claiming to be the real Batushka continues and we have another update about the situation. Batushka guitarist Krzysztof Drabikowski (the founder and creator who we did an exclusive interview with here: https://darkartconspiracy.com/2019/04/12/exclusive-interview-krzysztof-drabikowski-of-batushka/) and vocalist Bartłomiej Krysiuk both claim to be the real Batushka.

the legendary Italian progressive rock band “BANCO DEL MUTUO SOCCORSO” release their first new album in 25 years

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, the legendary Italian progressive rock band, today release their first new album in 25 years, titled ‘Transiberiana’ (Inside Out Music Sony Music group). To celebrate, the band have launched a video for their most recent single L’imprevisto, and you can watch that here: https://youtu.be/M2yYTRYTyYk

Of the track, Vittorio Nocenzi commented :“At one point, the Siberian cold is so intense that the ice covers the entire track. So it becomes dangerous to move on, it could be derailed. And then the train stops, in the tundra desert. It’s cold and travelers start to be afraid. Lights can be seen outside, it could be a village. Then they start thinking about getting off the train to go and ask for help. The cold increases. It is the metaphor of the unpredictable things that change in the course of our existence, fear before what we know is always the first weapon of defense. Instead the unexpected can also give us unexpected positive surprises, if only we were more willing to face diversity, the unusual: any unexpected can build new discoveries and new certainties if we face it with courage and determination.

ESKIMO CALLBOY release new single and video for “Supernova (RAGE 2 Edition)”

The video, which was produced by the Schillo Brothers, is a real visual treat that will also give you some insights into the upcoming insanely wild open-world shooter “RAGE 2”.

The band comments on the song and video: “’Supernova’ – our most ambitious song project ever and one of our favourite songs of our new album. Once you sing along with it, it will follow you anywhere. We totally enjoyed making use of the super organic sounds during songwriting. And shooting the video was a perfect collaboration of many experienced people that all shared one vision. From the first notes on paper to the finished song including a video in cooperation with RAGE 2 it turned out to be exactly how we had it in our minds.

Music will never be boring if you’re brave enough to break new grounds. We totally love the combination of super organic brass sounds and heavy guitar riffings. Once you listen to it, it won’t let go of you anymore. The whole project including the elaborate video was a wonderful team play of many creative minds and we couldn’t be happier with the final result.”

MAMMOTH WEED WIZARD BASTARD REVEAL NEW TRACK ‘THE SPACESHIPS OF EZEKIEL’

NEW ALBUM RELEASED 1ST MARCH (NEW HEAVY SOUNDS)

‘Yn Ol I Annwn’, Welsh for ‘Return To The Underworld’, is the third part of a trilogy of albums from Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard that began with ‘Noeth Ac Anoeth’ in 2015 and 2017’s ‘Y Proffwyd Dwyll’ (which got them nominated for the Welsh Music Prize in 2017). The band have now shared the 2nd track from the upcoming album, ‘The Spaceships Of Ezekiel’ –

Guitarist Paul Michael Davies comments, “The Spaceships Of Ezekiel is based on a book of the same name written in 1974 by Josef F. Blumrich. This guy was a NASA engineer who set out to trash the book ‘Chariot Of the Gods’ by Erik Von Daniken, a book that claimed that ancient astronauts or aliens were mentioned in the Bible. Being an actual rocket scientist, Blumrich set out to disprove these theories but as he was researching the book,  he started to come to the conclusion that this shit could have actually happened! It’s a crazy fucking book but also cool. In it he breaks down the book of Ezekiel in the old testament and even includes actual diagrams of what the spaceships may have looked like. Wes (MWWB 2nd guitar) is a UFO nut so the song had to happen. It also fits in with the theme of the album too.. To us its a slab of mad 70s Sci-Fi literature put through the MWWB Filter.”

The eight songs that comprise this album, sees the band delve deeper into their collective influences, embracing full on space rock, atmospheric film soundtracks, melancholic acoustic interludes, psychedelia, cosmic moog’s and percussion, moments of introspection and light … and of course, large helpings of doom. The fat riffs, big hooks and endless space grooves are all present and correct.

And once again Jessica Ball’s voice glides over it all, both sweet and melancholy, yet this time more assured. A myriad of stacked harmonies and layered vocals weave in and out of the tracks, adding an ‘other-worldly’ melodicism to the songs. No one else is pushing the boundaries of heavy like MWWB. Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard sound like Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard, full stop.

‘Yn Ol I Annwn’ is set to land on March 1st 2019 and will be available on CD/DL and limited edition double vinyl. First pressings will be housed in a gatefold sleeve. With a Green/Blue marble version and an Amber and Red disc version. Full download included.

Anneke van Giersbergen receives the Buma ROCKS! Export Award 2019

After 25 years on the international stages, Anneke van Giersbergen is more active than she has ever been. That’s why her efforts have been recognised with the Buma ROCKS! Export Award, which she will receive on June 1st during metal festival FortaRock in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

Buma Cultuur supports and promotes Dutch music copyright in both The Netherlands and key export markets for Dutch music. Each year Buma Cultuur presents a number of special awards to Dutch artists for their achievements. This year, the Buma ROCKS! Export Award for the most successful Dutch artist abroad in heavy music will be awarded to Anneke van Giersbergen.

Frank Helmink, director of Buma Cultuur: “Anneke is a household name in the rock and metal world. With The Gathering she connected metal with melodies from progressive rock. She was one of the founders of the female-fronted metal movement, which is still emulated worldwide to this day. As a solo artist and with her guest appearances she has managed to attract a loyal audience, from the heart of Brabant, the province where she was born, to well into North and South America. Add to that the fact that her voice and performance are instantly recognizable across the globe, and it’s abundantly clear that the Buma ROCKS! Export Award belongs to her.”

Anneke“I am not particularly fond of looking back, but I do think a successful 25-year career is worth celebrating. I have always been driven by my love for singing and music, I don’t care that much about recognition. That is why I was very surprised and honored to receive this award.”

FortaRock takes place in Goffertpark, Nijmegen the Netherlands on June 1st and 2nd. Anyone with a weekend ticket or a ticket for Saturday June 1st can attend the presentation of the Buma ROCKS! Export Award to Van Giersbergen.

On November 19th, 1994 Anneke performed for the first time on stage with The Gathering. It marked the beginning of her professional career. On November 16th and 17th, 2019 Anneke will celebrate this anniversary with two exclusive shows at Effenaar, Eindhoven the Netherlands. She will perform a career-spanning setlist together with musicians from her solo band and VUUR. She will also be joined on stage by Daniel Cavanagh (Anathema), as well as Kamerata Zuid string orchestra.

The show on November 16th has already sold out, there are still some tickets available for November 17th.

In late 2018, Anneke released ‘Symphonized’, an 11-track live album record at two career-spanning concerts alongside Residentie Orkest The Hague, which saw solo tracks as well as compositions from VUUR, The Gentle Storm and The Gathering reimagined with the orchestra.
