After hundreds shows, few European tours (with bands like Disgorge, Vomit Remnants, Malignancy etc.), one Japanese tour and few years of silence the pre-production  of successor of the album Arrogance of Supreme Power (2004, Lacerated Enemy/Amputated Vein) and EP Too Late to Stop My Hate (2010) was finished in studio Abbadon under the supervision of the well-tested Zdeněk ‘Čepa’ Čepička. There the new single Fortune Time has been recorded. At the end of February 2018 the recording of the album begins!

INTERVIEW: Insomnium (Finland)

by Carina Lawrence/ Dark Art Conspiracy

I caught up with guitarist Ville Friman of popular melodic death metal band Insomnium from Finland to discuss the band’s origins, their latest album ‘Winter’s Gate’ and if we can expect a new album soon and about their future plans and upcoming tour in March amongst other things…

Firstly can you tell us about how you arrived at the name
Insomnium?
Just by coincidence really. We had a list of cool sounding words Niilo
had collected and Insomnium was something that popped out from that list.

How did you come to form Insomnium which first began back in 1997?
Well, we grew up in quite small city where you didn’t have that much to do. So basically, out of boredom. Then again, the early nineties were a great time for metal music. Lots of great albums were released and new substyles were forged. We were heavily inspired what happened in the USA and Scandinavia and wanted to be part of this scene.

With heavy touring and their excellent live qualities, the four members have proven why DEATHRITE are among the most hopeful new acts of the worldwide extreme metal scene. Now they are setting their sails to conquer further shores. The band is currently writing new material for their eagerly awaited fourth studio album, which is about to be released in late 2018.

ALLEGAEON launches cover of Rush’s ‘Animate’ on all digital music services

During the recording sessions for ‘Proponent for Sentience‘, Denver, CO’s ALLEGAEON recorded two Rush covers. Fans have already heard ‘Subdivisions’, which was included on the album and has since become the band’s most streamed track on Spotify.  ALLEGAEON is releasing their cover of ‘Animate’ worldwide on all digital music services. Listen to the song and stream/download from your preferred provider here: smarturl.it/allegaeon-animate

Guitarist Greg Burgess elaborates: “When we settled on Rush to cover during the ‘Proponent’ sessions, I simply couldn’t pick which song to do. ‘Subdivisions’ or ‘Animate.’ Both were favorites for me personally, and both were sort of ‘under the radar’ eg. not ‘Tom Sawyer’ or ‘Spirit of the Radio.’ Where the original idea was to do a cover for a Japanese bonus track, we figured if we did both we could cover a special song for both the Japan AND Europe pressing. Then the powers that be decided to just include ‘Subdivisions’ on the album, and keep ‘Animate’ in reserve for something. Jan 6th, 2018 is the only occurrence of the golden ratio in date form that will occur during our life time. So 1.6.18 seemed like the perfect date to release it in Allegaeon fashion.
