The vaunted U.S. titans of extreme death metal, ORIGIN, have revealed details surrounding their forthcoming new album, “Unparalleled Universe”, set to be released on June 30th via Agonia Records (Europe / ROW) and Nuclear Blast Records (North America). Pre-orders for the album are available below. Listen to the first single “Accident And Error” in the form of a 360 degree lyric video at this link:
For 20 years, ORIGIN has engaged a full-blown sensory assault of tight, taut, and technical death metal amplified by flashes of grindcore and groove. However, 2017’s “Unparalleled Universe” sees the quartet – Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals), John Longstreth (drums), Mike Flores (bass, vocals), and Jason Keyser (vocals) – strengthen that blueprint with a handful of surprises.
“It feels like an Origin album, but it’s unparalleled to what you might expect if you haven’t heard us for 10 or 15 years” says Ryan. “To me, it’s a true reflection of ourselves. I compare it to an action movie. Our earlier material is filled with action from beginning to end. Now, the idea is to add a little more depth and dynamics. You could say there are some twists in the plot musically”.
ORIGIN began compiling ideas for what would become “Unparalleled Universe” while touring in support of their 2014 sixth offering, “Omnipresent”. Along the way, the record snatched their highest position on the BillboardHeatseekers Chart, bowing in the Top 10. Meanwhile, it garnered acclaim from metal press and successful tours with everyone from Aborted and Exhumed to Immolation and Marduk over the last three years. They’ve also shined on the Summer Slaughter Tour in 2009 & 2014. On the road with Belphegor last year, the members debuted a skeleton of the first single “Accident and Error” in front of packed crowds.
“We would ask the audience to give us title ideas, but we could never discern what they were actually saying” laughs Ryan. “Riffs typically start on tour, and I keep them in my back pocket. That’s the way it is.Ultimately, Unparalleled Universe begins another era for Origin. In the end, we’re still writing death metal songs, but we’re adding new dimensions. We’re still Origin”.

“Back in the U.S.S.A.”, the first single taken from the new album, is a two and half minute fiery social statement of satirical punk-rock heaven that well represents the true sentiment of the record. The video premiered today via Kerrang! and can be watched here: http://www.kerrang.com/48533/barb-wire-dolls-premiere-new-video-back-ussa/
Rub My Mind was recorded in the Joshua Tree desert at legendary studio Rancho De La Luna in California, where Iggy Pop and Queens Of The Stone Age made their seminal albums. Produced and mixed by Jay Baumgardner (Evanescene, John Fogerty, Bush), Rub My Mind is a collection of thirteen eclectic tracks that reflect on the state of our world, how to deal with it – and how to escape it! Rub My Mind builds on the energetic platform of their last two releases – Slit (2013) and Desperate (2016) – delivering an album that confidently grabs your immediate attention. Rub My Mind‘s soundscape blends the melodic rage of lead guitarist and former pro surfer and skateboarder Pyn Doll, the crunchy rhythm guitar of Remmington, the pulsating bass of Iriel Blaque, the Bonham-esque power of Krash Doll on drums; all led by Isis Queen’s dynamic vocals and flamboyant presence. Dedicated to legend Lemmy, the album is an exciting retro cocktail of late ’70s influenced punk and ’90s grunge refracted through the prism of 2017.

On August 25th, 2017, French metal force DAGOBA will release its seventh studio album, “Black Nova”, as a cooperation of Jive/Epic for France and Century Media for the rest of the world.
Formed in 1997 and inspired by 90’s American metal greats such as Pantera, Machine Head and Fear Factory, DAGOBA quickly expanded their furious sound with dark, symphonic and industrial elements culminating on what is to become their strongest album to date, “Black Nova”.
Shawter – singer, guitarist, composer and leader of DAGOBA – helmed the recordings of “Black Nova”, which took place at Eagle Black, his own studio in Marseille, whereas Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Heaven Shall Burn) took care of mix and mastering. “Black Nova” sounds massive with rich dynamics, towering riffs, vigorous shouts and infectious melodic choruses all over the place. The equally powerful artwork was created by Seth Siro Anton (Septic Flesh).
The tracklist for “Black Nova” reads as follows:
1. Tenebra
2. Inner Sun
3. The Legacy Of Ares
4. Stone Ocean
5. The Infinite Chase
6. The Grand Emptiness
7. Lost Gravity
8. Fire Dies
9. Phoenix et Corvus
10. Vantablack
Known as an impressive live act, DAGOBA are about to set sails for Japan in May with full European touring under way right around time of release of “Black Nova”. Stay tuned for further details in the coming weeks!
DAGOBA is (from left to right)
Nicolas Bastos – drums
Werther Ytier – bass

After finishing strong of tour dates with Meshuggah in the UK and Arch Enemy in Central Europe, Swedish Thrash Metallers THE HAUNTED have been busy these last weeks with the recording and mixing process of their upcoming, 9th studio album effort. Recorded at Parlour Studios in the UK with producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, The Exploited), the album is entitled “Strength In Numbers” and will be released worldwide via Century Media Records on August 25th, 2017.
THE HAUNTED’s guitarist Ola Englund has checked in with the following comment: “Working on “Strength In Numbers” with Russ Russell as an engineer and producer has been an incredible experience. His attitude and positivity has helped us to truly do our best when recording. He’s just a killer guy to be around!”, before adding: “All the tracking for the album has been completed and Russ is right in the middle of mixing and mastering it. And from the early mixes I’ve heard, it’s shaping up to be insanely heavy. No clean singing, no banjo, no pickup trucks…so fans of country music are gonna hate it, haha! Seriously: Heads are gonna roll. In a good way…”
A video teaser from recording sessions can now be seen here:
