Video premiere: Obscura Amentia “The Art Of The Human Decadence”

Obscura Amentia are back with a new official video for the title track from their album The Art Of The Human Decadence, released earlier this year via Sliptrick Records. The video clip for The Art Of The Human Decadence tells about the journey of a single person and, at the same time, of the whole of mankind: a mental and physical evolution from innocence, purity and life (visually expressed through the use of light colours and lush nature) to corruption, artifice, doubt, and then in the end, death.

NEWS – Tethra To Stream ‘Closed Doors’ Show Live On Facebook June 8th To Support Live Scene And Metal Genres

Italian metal act Tethra are passionate about emerging artists and they are on a mission to increase the numbers of people that attend smaller, club sized venues in not just Italy, but on a worldwide scale, stating:

“In recent years, many small and medium-sized clubs dedicated to metal music have closed or changed their genre because of the low attendance at the concerts.

It’s a global phenomenon that, if it does not have a clear turnabout, will oblige all industry employees to make drastic decisions.”

So, Tethra, would like to raise awareness amongst all fans of this genre about this topic, assuming a catastrophic scenario for the next future: what will happen when the last live club will also close? Will emerging bands play no more or will they totally rely on live streaming from rehearsal studios and improvised venues?

For this reason, on Thursday 8th June at 10pm (Italian time) and 9pm (UK), Tethra will play a full set live streaming show in a real live venue open just for them, furthermore, to give everyone the opportunity to participate in this event, they will keep the video online for 24 hours. No doubt they will be playing songs taken from their new album ‘Like Crows For The Earth’ which is out now in Europe and released 23rd July in the US!

You can follow the event through Tethra’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/TethraHell and for the direct event page link visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/1678452952183598/

This is Tethra’s contribution to the cause, hoping to be able to induce a reflection before this catastrophic scenario becomes a reality because on June 8th they will create a paradox that more than one band has had to endure in its career: playing in an empty room … will you be with Tethra?

About Tethra:

Tethra’s full-length album, “Like Crows for The Earth”, which was recorded and mixed by Matt Stancioiu (Labyrinth) at Elnor Studios and mastered by Greg Chandles (Esoteric) at Priory Studios. reveals how much the band has evolved sonically since their 2013 album, “Drown into the Sea of Life”. The album was released in Europe on February 11th via Sliptrick Records, with a US release in the pipelines on July 23rd.

Tethra produces elements such as acoustic breaks, striking solos and Doom-influenced melodies are mixed with charismatic vocals courtesy of the versatile frontman Clode Tethra. Blending gloomy Doom Metal, raging Death Metal and melodic early 90s Gothic Metal tinged vocals, Tethra will be the last nail on your cross.

Between 2011 and 2012, Tethra’s reputation grew, earning them spots in supporting the likes of Sepultura, Daylight Dies, Saturnus, Forgotten Tomb, Sadist, The Foreshadowing, Jackfrost and performing at Malta Doom Fest. In 2013, the Italians released their debut album, “Drown into the Sea of Life”, a concept album where the theme was focused on water.

LACUNA COIL – release video for “You Love Me ‘Cause I Hate You”

After launching a video clip for the song “Blood, Tears, Dust” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9sVUqOhcPU) LACUNA COIL are revealing the full story of their two conceptual videos with their latest clip for the song “You Love Me ‘Cause I Hate You”. Like “Blood, Tears, Dust” the video was directed and edited by Cosimo Alemà and produced by the production company Borotalco.

Check out “You Love Me ‘Cause I Hate You” under the following link:

Cristina Scabbia (vocals): “The videos we shot with Cosimo Alemà are exactly what we wanted to deliver visually, especially if connected with a record like ’Delirium’. The darkness, the intensity, the script itself are taking the viewer to the dimension we wanted to be transported to. ‘You Love Me ‘Cause I Hate You’ and ‘Blood, Tears, Dust’ are tightened together in a twisted story that I like a lot as there is so much that can be defined with each one’s imagination. Interpreting different characters was also exciting, an interesting challenge I hadn’t faced until then. I hope the viewers can capture the magic we breathed while we shot them.”

Andrea Ferro (vocals): “Every age has its form of storytelling, and video clips have been a huge part of our culture. Talking with Cosimo (Alemà/director) and our label we decided to create something to bring back the artistic quality video clips used to have. We put our love for cinema into our video for the song ‘You Love Me ‘Cause I Hate You’, as you will see there is a clear inspiration from TV series like ‘True Detective’ and also a certain ‘Twin Peaks’/’Resident Evil’ vibe. We wanted the viewers to contemplate the story and question what it really means. There is also a tight connection with the previous video for the song ‘Blood, Tears, Dust’ as both clips should be considered almost as one single piece. The videos clearly explore the main theme of our latest album, ‘Delirium’, and all its madness and symbols. It’s been a really great and challenging experience to be on the set for several days and work in ‘cinema style’ for the very first time to create something completely new for LACUNA COIL.”

Both songs are taken from LACUNA COIL’s latest album: Fresh, dark and extremely powerful are only a few of the best ways to accurately describe “Delirium”, which encompasses the strength and heavy approach of thrash metal from the 90’s twisted with goth elements into a modern style. REVIEW: Tethra – Like Crows For The Earth

REVIEW: Tethra – Like Crows For The Earth                                                                            by Carina Lawrence / Dark Art Conspiracy

tethraband.jpg

Italian doom metal act Tethra formed in 2008 and released their first full length debut ‘Drown Into The Sea’ in 2013, which was a concept album focused on water and continued the theme started on their first EP ‘At The Gates Of Doom’, about a passage between life and death. Now in 2017 they are back with their sophomore full length ‘Like Crows For The Earth’, which was recorded and mixed by Matt Stancioiu (Labyrinth) and mastered by Greg Chandles (Esoteric). They are ready to take their sound to the next level and show how they have evolved since their debut…

The intro ‘Resilience’ is positive yet sorrowful and sets the scene wonderfully for what is to come, being very melodic and tempting, leaving you eager to hear more. It paves the way for first full track, ‘Transcending Thanatos’ which picks up where it left off before frontman, Clode Tethra demonstrates his versatile vocals, from dark growls to melodic charismatic clean vocals, which is quite alluring and stands out in the doom genre, with an gothic vibe shining through. The instrumentation accompanies the tones brilliantly, from dark gloomy moments to hopeful acoustic sections.

Instrumental ‘Prelude to Sadness’ helps create the desired atmosphere and offers a break in between songs and sees us arrive at, ‘Springtime Melancholy’ which is extremely ambient and rather beautiful, with Clode using his vocals well against the vibrant instruments. There is a great balance of dark and light, which is intelligently structured and makes a high impact, going from serene to head banging worthy moments, as well as a full blown doom rage thrown in to keep you on your toes. This is a stand out track, and a great unconventional soundtrack or anthem for Spring.

‘Deserted’ introduces a more exotic sound initially, which goes into dark sounding sonic riffs which drive it, and offer plenty of hard hitting rhythms throughout. This may well be one of the heaviest songs featured so far, as it contains more screamed growls, alongside the signature gothic doom vocals. The stripped back interlude ‘Subterranean’ is well placed and is easily Clode’s best vocal performance, with elegant acoustic guitar as backup, giving it a sinister but flourishing sound. ‘The Groundfeeder’ focuses on the heavier side, tying in with ‘Deserted’ and keeps the momentum going…

‘Synchronicity of Life and Decay’ sees some of the most ambient instrumentation, including a slick tuneful guitar solo,  in what is their shortest song, showing they can deliver a quick hard blow. While ‘Earthless’ soars on, with the band in their element with fast paced melodies, going between slower calm parts and then effortlessly going full swing again. This is another stand out track for me.

Saving their title track for last, ‘Like Crows For The Earth’ truly encompasses all their best characteristic sounds, being a perfect and solid representation of their album and sound, making it a fine choice to end on.

Considering this is rooted in doom and death, this is a joy to listen to, as it is surprisingly diverse, melodic and positive for this genre. ‘Like Crows For The Earth’ highlights that Tethra aren’t afraid to think outside of the box, and for their efforts they should be more widely accepted, as this is more accessible than most doom/death metal offerings, giving it the edge. Most of the songs are around six or seven minutes long, but all very well crafted and consistent throughout, progressing naturally along the way. The use of instrumentals interspersed shows their musicianship further, and aids their more sonic and consuming sound, which is layered nicely to balance it out, and gives them their unique sound. If you are a fan of gothic doom/death metal this is a must, but even if you aren’t you may be in for a nice unexpected treat!

Score: 4/5
