APOCALYPTICA RELEASE NEW EP “METAL CLASSIC, CLASSIC METAL” AND SINGLE “FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEES”

The Finnish four piece Apocalyptica have dropped their very own Cello-Metal reinterpretation of classical bangers with the new EP Metal Classic, Classic Metal. Release day also sees the band unleash the focus track ‘Flight of the Bumblebees‘ originally by Nikolai Rimski-Korsakow.

On the EP’s focus track, Perttu Kivilaakso states:
“‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ is one of the most well-known virtuosic pieces. I have played it during my classical years many times, always aiming for faster and faster performances. This time I thought it would be the coolest thing to make a rough and heavy ‘Bee’ for our band, basically creating the slowest and most doomy ‘Bumblebee’ ever! It’s fascinating how musical structures can work out in many various ways! This ‘Bee’ is heavy and angry, but surely flies out with a smile on her face and a blink in it’s eye!”

ALLEGAEON launches cover of Rush’s ‘Animate’ on all digital music services

During the recording sessions for ‘Proponent for Sentience‘, Denver, CO’s ALLEGAEON recorded two Rush covers. Fans have already heard ‘Subdivisions’, which was included on the album and has since become the band’s most streamed track on Spotify.  ALLEGAEON is releasing their cover of ‘Animate’ worldwide on all digital music services. Listen to the song and stream/download from your preferred provider here: smarturl.it/allegaeon-animate

Guitarist Greg Burgess elaborates: “When we settled on Rush to cover during the ‘Proponent’ sessions, I simply couldn’t pick which song to do. ‘Subdivisions’ or ‘Animate.’ Both were favorites for me personally, and both were sort of ‘under the radar’ eg. not ‘Tom Sawyer’ or ‘Spirit of the Radio.’ Where the original idea was to do a cover for a Japanese bonus track, we figured if we did both we could cover a special song for both the Japan AND Europe pressing. Then the powers that be decided to just include ‘Subdivisions’ on the album, and keep ‘Animate’ in reserve for something. Jan 6th, 2018 is the only occurrence of the golden ratio in date form that will occur during our life time. So 1.6.18 seemed like the perfect date to release it in Allegaeon fashion.

Blackmore’s Night release their re-mastered 2CD Edition of their Christmas album ‘Winter Carols’ on 20th  October, with 3 brand new bonus tracks!

The festive season is a particularly special time for Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night, not least because many traditional Christmas songs originate from medieval times, which are so dear to them. On this album, Ritchie and Candice share with their fans some of their favourite Christmas songs of the last 400 years.

The song ‘Wish You Were Here’, which is being promoted as their new Christmas single, is a wonderful cover version of the Rednex song, beautifully interpreted by Candice and embellished by Ritchie’s distinctive guitar-playing. The album also contains ‘Christmas Eve’, Blackmore’s Night’s previous Christmas single (from 2013) in different versions.
