ACHERONTAS sign with Agonia Records; announce “Vamachara” re-release, issue studio update

Greek occult black metallers with ritual & 70’s rock influences, ACHERONTAS, have signed a new record deal with Agonia Records. The band returned to the label after their 2011 departure, having previously released the EP “Hermeticism” and studio album “Vamachara” (both in 2011). The latter is going to be re-released on vinyl on August 31st, along with a rare demo and new cover made by Viktoria Polikarpova  (of Visionis Phosphorescent).

ACHERONTAS is currently working on its next studio album, that is supposed by be finished in February of 2018.

ACHERONTAS is no mundane project and as little is known about the band’s biography as the phrase “shrouded in mystery” would suggest. The band was launched in 2007 by Acherontas V.Priest (guitars & vocals) and stands at the forefront of the new wave of Greek black / occult metal scene, with strong dedication to spirituality, mysticism and magic, in both sound and image. A direct continuation to the pre-ACHERONTAS era. To date, the group released six full-length albums, with Amarta अमर्त” from this year being the last of them.

The band commented: “During the creation of the second part of Reptilian Unification the synaxis of Acherontas also compiled the bases and foundations for the third one. Now we work on the final touches to accomplish the utmost forms and complete the trilogy gloriously. In December we enter the studio again to record the final part, which will be revealed on the solstice of 2018. A circle of creation closes and a new epoch begins. Spirit Above Matter!”.

On the meaning of ACHERONTAS, the band added (original spelling): “Acherontas is a Magickal Coven Dedicated to the Ancient Summerian Mysteries of Drakonian Blood. Many Traditions embraced these Ancient sources as footprints and take form in our Void as Astral Vampirism, Hermeticism, Kabbalah, Dream Workings and Luciferian Magick. True Sorcery is not an Art, it’s science…We are Real to Those with Eyes to see… “.

DECREPIT BIRTH premiere lyric video for new song “Hieroglyphic”

U.S. techincal death metallers DECREPIT BIRTH have revealed a second new single from their upcoming album, “Axis Mundi”. The song is titled “Hieroglyphic” and its lyric video can be watched here:

The previously revealed single, “Epigenetic Triplicity”, can be listened to HERE.

Formed in 2001, DECREPIT BIRTH released three studio album’s to date, which got them a premiere spot on the death metal radar. Their music, infused with technical and progressive twists, managed to forge a very solid international fan base, and continues to forge their path into the future, as one of the genre’s finest bands. Awakening from a seven-year slumber, the Californians fourth offering is entwined with musical athleticism and characteristic esoteric themes. “Axis Mundi” is as crushing as it is cosmic.

“We’ve gone through an evolution throughout the years” says founding member and primary songwriter Matt Sotelo. “The last couple of albums we had, Diminishing Between Worlds and Polarity, were more progressive death metal. They were different from …And Time Begins, which is a different genre of death metal. It’s more brutal. I’m the type of guy who likes to experiment. …And Time Begins has no solos. It’s all really fast palm-muted riffs. The other albums breathed more with the guitars. I let chords ring out on Diminishing Between Worlds and Polarity. Axis Mundi is combination of all the stuff I’m into. I like it a lot right now. It’s more melodic. The riffs repeat intentionally. I want to have fun with these songs”.

ORIGIN premiere lyric video for new track “Cascading Failures”

On June 30th, iconic death metallers ORIGIN will release their seventh studio album “Unparalleled Universe”. In anticipation, the band has revealed the second new single in a form of a lyric video. Listen to “Cascading Failures” here:

The new album “Unparalleled Universe” will be available on Agonia Records in Europe / ROW and Nuclear Blast Records in North America. Pre-orders are available at this link, while the first single, “Accident And Error”, can be listened to here.

For 20 years, ORIGIN has engaged a full-blown sensory assault of tight, taut, and technical death metal amplified by flashes of grindcore and groove. However, 2017’s “Unparalleled Universe” sees the quartet – Paul Ryan (guitar, vocals), John Longstreth (drums), Mike Flores (bass, vocals), and Jason Keyser (vocals) – strengthen that blueprint with a handful of surprises.

“It feels like an Origin album, but it’s unparalleled to what you might expect if you haven’t heard us for 10 or 15 years” says Ryan. “To me, it’s a true reflection of ourselves. I compare it to an action movie. Our earlier material is filled with action from beginning to end. Now, the idea is to add a little more depth and dynamics. You could say there are some twists in the plot musically”.

DECREPIT BIRTH to release new album “Axis Mundi” in July; listen to first single “Epigenetic Triplicity” (360 VR lyric video)

Hailing from California, U.S., the esoteric techincal death metallers DECREPIT BIRTH are set to release their first new album in seven years, “Axis Mundi”, on July 21st via Agonia Records (Europe / ROW) and Nuclear Blast Records (North America). “Epigenic Triplicity” is the first single to be revealed from the record. Listen to the the track in the form of a 360 VR lyric video at this link:

With remarkable songs, an exceptional production, and high concept lyrics, DECREPIT BIRTH will re-shape death metal on “Axis Mundi”. They’re blasting the doors of convention wide open, paving the way for future generations to explore beyond death metal’s four proverbial corners. Much like the band’s influences from the early ‘90s, DECREPIT BIRTH have different optics on the genre and what has meant and continues to mean. Of course, Sotelo sees “Axis Mundi” from an entirely pragmatic viewpoint:

“I don’t know if we’re going to re-shape death metal” he counters. “We’re just a band. We’re doing this. We’re fans of the genre. We do our own thing with it. It’s our own paint job. What sounds cool to us. We don’t aspire to be the most technical band out there. The technicality isn’t our main goal. Technicality is part of what we are. When we were writing this album, we wanted the songs that had riffs that repeat. There’s more structure with our new stuff. We’re trying to write good music. We want to entertain people out there. Hopefully, everybody likes Axis Mundi”.

SVARTSYN reveal second new single

Swedish black metallers SVARTSYN are streaming a new song taken from their upcoming album “In Death”, due out on June 9th via Agonia Records. Listen to “Black Thrones Of Death” here:

“Black Thrones Of Death” is the second revealed single. The first one, “Seven Headed Snake”, can be listened to here: https://youtu.be/2bn_RFA-yHI

SVARTSYN plays dark, grim and misanthropic black metal. The music operates from mid-paced to fast and sinister tempos, featuring a dynamic melodic range injected into an overall feeling of obscurity and brutality. Originally formed as Chalice in 1991, and renamed to SVARTSYN three years later, the band can be considered as a one man project led by Ornias. He sang and played all instruments on “In Death”, except for drums. Along its career, the band put out a number of albums celebrated in the underground black metal scene, including the 1998 debut “The True Legend”.

Ornias commented: “The new record completes and combaines the Black Testament and the Nightmarish Sleep albums. My revelations. My deathwork”.

“In Death” was recorded in the Belgian Mortsella Studio in March and December 2016, and in January 2017. Mixing and mastering took place at Clintworks Studio (Amon Amarth, 3 Inches Of Blood, Misery Index). The cover artwork was created by Chadwick St John (Arckanum, Horna, The Piper graphic novel).
