On March 16th, Britain’s cult metallers Paradise Lost will release a remastered version of their legendary seventh studio album, ‘Host’ and a first-ever pressing of the songs on vinyl. Originally released in 1999, ‘Host’ earned Paradise Lost their reputation as West Yorkshire’s musical chameleon, as it saw the band moving further away from their previous death metal roots to a melancholic and catchier electropop sound.
Singer Nick Holmes comments: “With the ‘Host’ album we wanted to take the ‘One Second’ concept further and make a very dark album with even more subtlety. It was a bold leap from all our previous albums, a leap too far some would say, but for me, the new remastered version really shows it’s still one of the band’s strongest albums in terms of song writing, atmosphere and sheer misery.”

UK’s legendary extreme metal icons CRADLE OF FILTH have released the second single off of their eagerly awaited 12th album, ‘Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness Of Decay’.

Commented singer Dani Filth: “This track is one of my favourite songs from the new ‘Cryptoriana’ album -aside from ‘Achingly Beautiful’, ‘Death And The Maiden’ and the title track- due to its very unique flavour and its vehement brutality. The culminative strike is especially very ‘Dusk… and Her Embrace’ era Black Metal…
Inspired by the works of H. Rider Haggard, a Victorian author who schooled in my home town of Ipswich, this song uses the railroad annexation of the Transvaal in Africa during the 19th century to paint a vision of the greedy machinations of man coming up against a furious, displaced natural foe, thus posing an allegory for the downtrodden, revolting.
I also have the latin of this expression tattooed on my arm (due to being the usual supercilious Leo!).
The quote was made famous having been said in 1697 by Johann Bernoulli about Isaac Newton’s anonymously submitted solution to Bernoulli’s challenge regarding the Brachistochrone curve.

Furthermore the band also announced to release the dates for the upcoming European tour in support of ‘Cryptoriana – The Seductiveness Of Decay’ on Thursday, August 17.

Last week the band’s folk section revealed interesting info on the special show they played at Masters of Rock in 2016 (Disc 1), but today it’s about time for the Folk Metal Superstars to unveil another musical appetizer from this upcoming live release. Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI will release their first ever live Blu-ray/DVD+2CD package titled »Live at Masters of Rock«, on August 25th, 2017 through Nuclear Blast. After hearing the title of the package, it’s easy to conclude that it was recorded at the identically named festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic. But there’s even more to be excited about, this release doesn’t just include KORPIKLAANI‘s show from 2016, it even has a second full show from 2014 as bonus feature. The 2016 concert features guest appearances from Tero Hyväluoma (additional fiddler) as well as Toni Perttula (additional accordion player), Sami‘s identical twin brother. Mixing and mastering of »Live at Masters of Rock« were handled by front man Jonne Järvelä himself.
Jonne comments, “This our first ever DVD release, which we are quite proud of. It has no backing tracks, no choirs, no samples, all the mistakes are included. It is just us, KORPIKLAANI, pure live rock ‘n’ roll.”
He also adds, “I spent a lot of time during the mastering process with Svante Forsbäck who recently handled the RAMMSTEIN mastering and we worked hard to achieve the right ambience and crowd sound. So when you turn it up loud, it feels like you are right there in the middle.”
Sami adds, “For us, our bigger shows means more folk musicians, which are much cheaper than pyro, for example my brother agreed to this show for a few beers and he doesn’t even drink much!”
