ZARAZA: Full stream of “Spasms Of Rebirth”

Ecuador’s doom metal duo ZARAZA have published the full streaming of their latest album “Spasms Of Rebirth”.

The result of this is “Spasms of Rebirth”, the new album released on April 4th, 2017; a head on collision of all the musical influences that have shaped ZARAZA: doom metal, sludge metal, death metal, old-school 1980s industrial, experimental music. Everything from Cocteau Twins all the way to Napalm Death and  SWANS… and many others. No boundaries, no limits.

ZARAZA were formed in 1993, in Montreal, Canada after newly arrived polish immigrant Jacek moved to the frozen wastelands of Canada in the bitter cold winter of 1990.

In a uniquely ZARAZA move, the album “Spasms of Rebirth” is released in a dual master edition. The default master is typical of how most metal albums are mastered today, i.e. geared for maximum loudness and impact, but at the cost of dynamics within the music. The second master is geared instead towards audiophiles who prefer Full Dynamic Range and value dynamics in the music over just pure loudness. Pick whichever master you like.

Wolfgang Funk, Label Manager People Like You Records: “We are really happy about signing a young and up-and-coming band that will leave additional marks in the international scene. Moreover they are adding another flavour to the People Like You roster that we are going to keep working on. We are really looking forward to an exciting and successful cooperation with the band.”

Kevin Ratajczak, ESKIMO CALLBOY: “After more than 2 years of working on our 4th studio album we are holding the first masters in our hands – finally! We put in more blood, sweat and tears than into any other album before and we are absolutely sure that it’s the best we ever did. It’s a total cliché, but it’s true! We are really happy to release it via Century Media Records/People Like You Records. With all their experience and the close contact we kept during the past few months, we are sure that we can take ESKIMO CALLBOY to the next level.”

REVIEW: Seething Akira – Backlash (Single)

Alternative hard rock ravers Seething Akira from Portsmouth, UK have unleashed their first massive anthemic single ‘Backlash’ featuring vocals from Olly Simmons of The Quemists, taken from their anticipated debut album out June 2017. The song is bold and full of angst with great lyrics like, “My blood vessels burst as I scream and curse, what have we become? What have we all done! This is my backlash!” it’s lyrics like this that help make it a live hit. It is addictive and infectiously catchy, aided by their strong and well executed use of electronic synths. I had the unforgettable experience of seeing them recently perform ‘Backlash’ live, and it was the perfect singalong party anthem, that got the crowd going wild. They are a band that need to be seen to be believed, especially in the live environment, where they truly thrive, being in their element. It’s no surprise that they have already supported the likes of Skindred, Hacktivist and Don Broco. With this hit single and their awaited debut on the way, Seething Akira look to cause a big commotion in 2017.

Score: 4/5

‘Backlash’ was produced by vocalist Charlie Bowes, Rhys Fulber & Jim Davies, mastered by Greg Reely (Canada), and features Olly Simmons on vocals.

American Standards Release Chaotic New Single and Video For “Carpe Diem, Tomorrow”, Announce Tour Dates

Phoenix hardcore outfit American Standards, has release their second music video single “Carpe Diem, Tomorrow“, which comes off their upcoming record “Anti-Melody“. In this claustrophobically dark video filmed by Jacob Reynolds (Dead Rabbits, Escape The Fate, The New Low), silhouettes of the band thrash amidst seizure-like inducing lights, capturing the passion and intensity of the song.

Vocalist Brandon Kellum commented on the video saying, “We all know the person that’s been at their job for 10 years and complains every day about it, someone who’s planed on going back to school or wants to travel but always makes excuses on why they don’t. “Carpe Diem, Tomorrow” is about getting out of your comfort zone. Being open to new experiences and ways of thinking. Moving is living. You’re not getting any younger and there will never be a “right time” so do something that scares the hell out of you every day of your life.”

Anti-Melody” comes out April 28th and is available for preorder on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp. Watch “Carpe, Diem, Tomorrow” below.

Along with the new music video, American Standards has announced “The Anti-Melody Tour” in support of the new album. The 10 day tour begins May 19th in Albuquerque, NM and will end in Reno, NV on May 28th. The band is known for its powerful live performance so make sure to check the dates below for a city near you.

NUCLEAR ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN HEADLINING TOUR WITH CONFLICTED

NUCLEAR ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN HEADLINING TOUR WITH CONFLICTED

Chilean thrashers Nuclear announce a new European Tour for June and July 2017. This time and for nearly half of the dates, they will be accompanied by Conflicted, a young promising thrash metal band also from Chile.

This tour will mark the end of the promotion of Nuclear’s most recent release “Formula For Anarchy” (Candlelight Records, 2015) as it is expected that the follow-up album will see the light in early 2018.

The band quoted: “It is always a pleasure to come back to the EU to show our music. Metalheads there have always received the band with enthusiasm and energy – we are sure this time won’t be any different”.

On the other hand, this Eurotour will be the very first for Conflicted. The band is promoting their 2015 album “Under Bio-Lence” (Sick Bangers) and their expectations are high.

“We are extremely happy to do this for the first time. We have played a lot of shows with Nuclear and the combination is lethal. We cannot wait to start this and show the people in Europe what the band is all about”.

The tour route will pass through Belgium, Switzerland, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Holland and Poland. Ferroda Booking is planning on continuing the tour with Conflcited as headliners after July 1st. More info to be released soon.

REVIEW: Death Blooms – Death Blooms EP

REVIEW: Death Blooms – Death Blooms EP                                                                                  by Carina Lawrence / Dark Art Conspiracy

Death-Blooms-1.jpg

Alternative UK metal quartet Death Blooms look to turn heads with their impressive self-titled debut EP.

First song ‘Hate:Die’ has a manic vibe, especially with sinister whispered sections repeatedly saying “Then hate, then die” throughout. Featuring sonic edgy hard hitting guitars, and a superb melodic clean vocal chorus mixed with fierce screams from frontman Paul Burrows, this is an electrifying dark introduction to Death Blooms.

Next up is the anthemic ‘Last Ones’ which is a mighty offering with massive guitars, fast drums and plenty of depth, it simply soars, especially through its extremely catchy chorus, which seems to be their forte and they waste no time asserting this.

Lead single ‘I’m Dead’ strikes even harder, turning the brutality up a notch and firing off at blistering speeds, again with an urgent frantic feel driving it and sublime singalong sections, making this the perfect song to be at the forefront of this release.

Final offering ‘Sick’ rampages on and is infectious, it will have you head banging in a heartbeat. The effective use of contrasting and dual vocals is executed wonderfully yet again, as seen in the EP’s entirety. They close this stunning debut EP in a very dynamic and high impact way, with the song over before you know it, firing rapidly and leaving you eager for more.

In just four songs they manage to leave you in awe, with their exhilarating well rounded first release, they may have already established themselves as one of the best new modern metal acts going, which is a serious accolade for a debut. Death Blooms most definitely have a bright and expansive future ahead.

Score: 5/5
