Hate Unbound released a gloomy music video from their Plague album!

Hate Unbound‘s critically acclaimed debut album “Plague” is out now on Inverse Records. The band also released a gloomy music video from the track “I, Martyr

Daryl Mitchell comments: “For the “I, Martyr” video, we went with an abstract idea. One that implies that a persecuted person, a potential martyr if you will, had fought back against their oppressor and won. Now she is dragging her victim’s bodies in order release their souls. Showing the struggles she has from carrying the guilt and then bleeding out and dying. We tried to not get to deep into the specifics in hopes that people would form their own opinion of how and why things happen the way they do. We hope you enjoy it.

The band is heading on Spread The Plague Tour 2017 in April:

ALTRAGE Signs with Season Of Mist

Altarage-bandpicture.jpg

Regarding their signing, ALTARAGE comment: “We are glad that Season of Mist have joined us on our journey through the nothingness, chanting hymns of failure, and celebrating decay towards our inevitable end. The year 2017 will see a new nihilistic offering. The end is upon us.”

In their own words, ALTARAGE were spawned in a nihilistic cauldron of contempt to reach out the nothingness of all planes of existence. Little is known of the secretive death metal band from Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque country of Spain. In 2015 a demo simply entitled after its year of release, ‘MMXV’ generated interest around the globe and was followed by the critically acclaimed ‘NIHL’ (2016).

Death/Doom Metal Duo MONTFAUCON Stream Entire New Album “Renaissance”

Mixed & Mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Katatonia)

Tomorrow, MONTFAUCON – the medieval era-inspired doom/death metal concept project from Uzbekistani duo Valentin Mayamsin and Michel Cadenzar – will release their six-track album, Renaissance. The album can be ordered now via Bandcamp

Valentin Mayamsin states, “These tracks on Renaissance are restless ghosts of unreleased songs have been haunting us for many years. Now it’s time to release them and turn a new page in the history of MONTFAUCON! We’ve been waiting to release this record for many years. It’s been quite a journey, and we never thought the path would be so long and windy. We were able to overcome many barriers and are grateful for the support of friends and fans all over the globe. We put a lot of effort and thought into this piece of art. We hope you enjoy the album as much as we do!”
MONTFAUCON resonates with historic tales of violence and upheaval, exploring the implications and consequences of emotional turmoil, aggression and fear. Renaissance – which features mixing and mastering from death metal veteran Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Katatonia) – is a majestic, eclectic and musically diverse portrait of darkness, desperation and barbarism that presents a new perspective on the ever-shifting landscape of extreme metal.
unnamed (90).jpg

Renaissance track listing:
1. Prisoner
2. I Was A Warrior
3. Alone
4. Mastermind
5. Insanity
6. The Last Night

MONTFAUCON achieves a sound that’s at once brutal and beautiful, alternately direct and dizzying. Renaissance draws from black metal, progressive doom and symphonic metal influences, accented by Michel’s complex, haunting piano melodies. From one song to the next, there are hints of well-known acts such as Satyricon, Darkthone, Cradle of Filth, Death, Opeth and Pink Floyd, as well as traces of more obscure artists, including Lux Occulta, Dominion and My Dying Bride.

It’s incredible that Valentin and Michel have crafted such diverse, high-impact and intensely melodic songs from opposite parts of the world (Valentin resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, while Michel continues to reside in their native Uzbekestan). What’s even more impressive is that as forward-thinking as the songs on Renaissance are, the skeletons were written years ago, and early versions of some of the tracks were played on metal radio in Uzbekistan, and were well received by the region’s loyal underground scene.

When it was time for Valentin to start putting Renaissance together back in his home studio in San Francisco, he struggled at first to find the right gear and learn how to use it. Since he didn’t have much experience with home recording, he experienced several setbacks. To make sure the songs sounded as good on the digital files as they did when he played them in his living room, Valentin hired The Faceless guitarist Michael Keene to help him assemble a rig that would yield a high quality recording.

For metal fans who are excited to hear more, MONTFAUCON are already working on five or six new death/prog songs that will leave listeners speechless. Until then, Renaissance should be inspiring and enthralling enough to keep listeners completely satisfied.

WINTERSUN – unveil more details about “The Forest Seasons”!

On March 1st, the Finnish kings of epic melodic death metal, WINTERSUN, start their crowdfunding campaign to finance the construction of their own studio. Fans will be able to purchase their ‘Forest Package’ – also including their upcoming studio album »The Forest Seasons« – directly from the band and support them. Bit by bit, WINTERSUN unveil new info on their upcoming full-length release and today, Jari Mäenpää states:

ABOUT THE FOREST SEASONS ALBUM

wintersun-the-forest-seasons

This album is more primitive and organic than I normally like to do, but still modern, melodic, epic, bombastic yet also dark – and dare I say even shocking and we love it! It is new and different, because I don’t like doing the same thing over and over, but it’s still very much a WINTERSUN album – although WINTERSUN can be anything, even techno/trance/pop… There are no limits with the music of WINTERSUN!

It is a longer album than »Time I« running over 53 minutes and for once I’m 100% happy with the sounds and the production. The sound fits PERFECTLY for this album! This album actually sounds great in every sound system / speakers / headphones I’ve listened to it! If you are a WINTERSUN fan you won’t be disappointed! It has everything you would expect from a WINTERSUN album, that we can promise you! And if you’re not a fan, you might like it anyway, because it has lots of variety and new dimensions to our sound and style.

»The Forest Seasons« album was something that I could do with my current resources, but it doesn’t take anything away how great the album is. Because it is killer! And music isn’t measured in money. Albums costing hundred bucks or a million bucks can be equally good albums. (But the unfortunate thing is that certain albums can only be done with higher end production and then again some albums would sound like shit with a big budget production and vice versa, some albums would sound like shit with low budget production and some albums would sound killer with low budget production!)

The album has four epic and monumental songs, all very different, but still merging together perfectly like the season changes. Two of the songs, ‘Awaken From The Dark Slumber (Spring)’ and ‘Eternal Darkness (Autumn)’ are multipart songs like ‘Starchild’ and ‘Sons of Winter and Stars’.

AWAKEN FROM THE DARK SLUMBER (SPRING)

‘Awaken From The Dark Slumber (Spring)’ is the starting track. It’s a very energetic song illustrating the awakening of nature and it will build up to a big climax! (This song has this album’s “killer riff”… forest style!)

THE FOREST THAT WEEPS (SUMMER)

‘The Forest That Weeps (Summer)’ is the summer song. It’s atmospheric, melodic and rockin’! It’s also enhanced with big choirs celebrating the end of summer, before the autumn darkness takes over.

ETERNAL DARKNESS (AUTUMN)

‘Eternal Darkness (Autumn)’ is the darkest WINTERSUN track to date! It paints a dark mood illustrating the Finnish autumn, when you hardly see any sun at all. But ultimately the song is about death… with a twist that some of the parts are written from death’s point of view and how IT sees life… as a mistake in the universe. It’s an epic and long four part song describing four phases of dying.

LONELINESS (WINTER)

I’m really proud of all the songs, but especially the last song called ‘Loneliness (Winter)’ is what I’m really proud of. I really hit it out of the ballpark with this one, even if I do say so myself. It’s a little like ‘Silver Leaves’ (on »Time II«), but a more sorrowful and darker song with a really cold winterish vibe where as ‘Silver Leaves’ is more beautiful, oriental, atmospheric.

I really think that this is my first PERFECT ALBUM I’ve ever done. It all came together just right!

We sincerely hope you will support us by getting the new album from INDIEGOGO on March 1st, included in our crowdfunding package, the FOREST PACKAGE. This will help us to reach our goal which is to build the WINTERSUN Headquarters studio, completing »Time II« once and for all and start making our future albums!

Thank you!

Jari & the WINTERSUN boys
