Another legendary band confirmed. Legend among the legend in heavy music. Fathers of extreme metal who exist more than fourty years now. With their frontman King Diamond they changed musical world and inspired so many musicians of heavy metal and also black metal as a part of its first wave.
After about twenty years of their last concert activities MERCYFUL FATE returns with spectacular unholy show. Another clasicc dream came true!
About a month has passed and here are another bands confirmed. All fans of softer spiritual stuff will be happy because Alcest will visit the fortress with their new album. Is it shoegaze, blackgaze, post metal? Just words which does not matter at all. It is going to be fabulous. Another atmospheric stuff will be given to us by melodic doomy music of NAILED TO OBSCURITY. Much darker mix of atmosphere, death, doom and black metal will be presented by Gregor from PARADISE LOST, but now with STRIGOI.
More brutal death metal in its traditional way shall be performed by the American classic – OBITUARY and SUFFOCATION. FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY will grand us some electronic and industrial vibed stuff. Electronic stuff is used by other band, which is also inspired by noise, rock, grind and is much weirder. It is Japanese MELT-BANANA with characteristic vocal of Yasuko.
Not for the first time here, guys from EXHORDER will pummel some thrash metal into us. Not that much famous, but they also were probably the inspiration to legendary and newer PANTERA. Last time when EXHORDER were here, was damn awesome.

The end of the year is near and here is the new dose of confirmed metal. Kings of metalcore AS I LAY DYING appears on the lineup. Next another similar act is THE AGONIST from Canada and also BUTCHER BABIES with their killing lady duo singers.
BENIGHTED are adding to the path of fast madness with brutal music. On similar note another grinders appear – EXCREMENTORY GRINDFUCKERS, but instead of serious darkness, with their humour and „dancing“ party vibe.
Black leather jacket guys with hoodies from Portland are now at Brutal Assault too. UADA is not a cheap knockoff of MGLA. Their show is far from stoick as the Poland counterpart with more active approach. Good equally, indeed. Another black metal is represented by a legend a pioneer of the genre – MAYHEM.
BLOODBATH or BLOOD INCANTATION are new death metal addition there.
Music lover can enjoy legendary DEVIN TOWSEND and will bring new album to the festival.

The third band update confirms the the combination of elite deathgrind with spectacular voice work of Californian CATTLE DECAPITATION and their presentation with the new Death Atlas album. Not that extreme modern shall please the fans with a melodical, symphonic deathcore of SHADOW OF INTENT. Thrashers adding some death metal in their art are FUELED BY FIRE and the next year they also will release a new album we can expect to see songs from at Brutal Assault.
There will be also KATATONIA from Sweden with their slower melancholic riffs in a progressive way. Some spicing of the festival will be in the form of FEVER 333 and their combination of rock, hip-hop, punk, post HC, D‘n‘B. Other experimental band is PSYKUP with their mix of progressive death, jazz, punk, hardcore.
The blacker side is represented by one and only MYSTICUM. Other new black metal project is IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT with their dissonant jazzy side of black metal music.

Here is the second update for new bands confirmed. From Ukraine, 1914 will bring us their war poetry in their specific black metal way. In the same genre, but again, with own obscurity or weirdness, SIGH of Japan shall see the stages of Josefov‘s areal. From European south, Italians OTTONE PESANTE trio will continue in avandgarde while the strong drums are in company of a thrumpet a trombone.
Modern fans who prefer some trendier stuff shall enjoy metal core of WHILE SHE SLEEPS or RING OF SATURN, STATIC-X. Harder technical stuff will be given to us by great BEYOND CREATION.
Old school fans can expect bands like VADER, NECROPHOBIC. There will be also other matador from Britain. CRADLE OF FILTH, this time with their presentation of Cruelty and the Beast which belong to their top albums and it is fine classic of genre overall.
