CHILDREN OF BODOM’S Jaska Raatikainen joins MERCURY CIRCLE
Founding member and drummer of extreme metal icons CHILDREN OF BODOM, Jaska Raatikainen, has announced to join MERCURY CIRCLE, the brand new project by by Iconcrash’s and Swallow the Sun’s Jaani Peuhu.
Being around with CHILDREN OF BODOM for remarkable twenty six years and touring the globe ever since, the band’s enthralling mix of melodic hooks and instrumental acrobatics have solidified them as one of the leading voices of music’s new generation. It has been hard for Jaska Raatikainen to make any strict musical future plans since quitting COB in 2019, but all of this changed when he heard the demos by Peuhu.

PHOTO REPORT: CHILDREN OF BODOM, BRYMIR & BLOODRED HOURGLASS
Children of Bodom played one of their last gigs with the current lineup at Logomo in Turku, Finland on December 12, 2019. Bloodred Hourglass opened the night with a no nonsense all out energy packed show, followed by Brymir who played my personal favorite gig of theirs this year (out of 3-4 gigs). Bodom started out a bit rocky, and later than schedule, but it smoothed out through out the show. The guys took breaks often but looked like they were still into the music, though you could tell the dynamic had shifted a bit. There was no proper encore, and the set seemed a bit short, but it was a satiating performance, and brought back an air of nostalgia and a touch of melancholy knowing that would be the last time to shoot the band as it is and has been for years. I’ve personally been shooting them since 2011, eight different times in two different countries and six different cities. It’s been fun! Thank you for the music!

Children Of Bodom May Have To Use Different Band Name Following Line-up Changes
Children Of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho may be forced to change the band’s name following the departure of founding drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henri Seppälä, and keyboardist Janne Wirman which was announced earlier this month. Their final show with the band will be on December 15th at the Black Box in Helsinki, Finland.
