Finnish black metal act HEXVESSEL have set their signatures under a multi-album dealwith Prophecy Productions.
HEXVESSEL will release their seventh studio full-length via the label and have already been confirmed for this year’s edition of Prophecy Fest.
HEXVESSEL comment: “I am a fiercely independent minded artist and Hexvessel has its own sound, ideology and spiritual path”, vocalist and guitarist Mat “Kvohst” McNerney explains. “I wanted a label that would respect, care for and nurture that wild art spirit. I have known and been friends with Martin Koller, Stefan Belda, and Prophecy for many years. We go back to the origin of Hexvessel and our first live shows abroad and they have always supported my work. I felt we would always be destined to work together in a creative aspect and I am proud to now come under the banner of a label that stands for true beauty in art and creative music.”
Scotland’s blackened thrash metal titans Hellripper have shared details of their Euro Goat Summer Massacre Tour. With shows in eleven different countries including Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, the tour will also see Hellripper play their biggest Scottish show to date plus several festival appearances. On 31st May, the Peaceville repress of the band’s 2019 EP ‘Black Arts and Alchemy’ gets its release on Limited Edition Orange Vinyl LP and CD, with both formats including a previously unreleased bonus track – a cover of Running Wild’s ‘Iron Heads’.
As Hellripper marks a decade of existence, Peaceville presents the five track 2019 release of blistering blackened thrash – Black Arts & Alchemy.
Following the release of debut album Coagulating Darkness in 2017 which thrust Hellripper firmly into the gaze of underground metal maniacs, the Black Arts & Alchemy EP brought even more attention and notoriety to this special act upon its release in 2019, as Hellripper’s ascent gained further momentum. With four black/thrash anthems delivered in Hellripper’s uncompromising & unwavering style, and including an additional cover version of Running wild’s Iron Heads, the release demonstrated an ongoing mastery of composition and execution whilst remaining true to the firm heavy metal roots which had brought so much appraisal to date. Featuring the band’s trademark intricate and expertly-crafted concoction of hyperspeed riffing and solos, Black Arts & Alchemy was also notably mastered by Joel Grind of celebrated US thrashers Toxic Holocaust.
Pioneers of a sound that changed the world. Lifelong disciples of suspense and mystery. An enigmatic duo like no other, hell-bent onhaunting souls through the eternities. There are many things Darkthronehave been called since forming in 1986 and these are but a few, having drawn from a creative well so potent and powerful it turned them into one of Norway’s biggest musical exports. Following from their debut album Soulside Journey, the next three full-lengths, often referred to as ‘the unholy three’, set the benchmark for black metal in the early 90s,though in truth they’ve never been the kind to rest on such laurels –distilling elements of vintage punk, doom, thrash and death into their own sonic fingerprint and continuing to test that equation throughout the years. It’s been quite the journey, having won cryptic pair Nocturno and Fenriz legions of loyal fans around the world. This tradition will only continue with latest masterpiece It Beckons Us All.
