NINJASPY Announce New Video ‘Speak” + Canada Tour

Vocalist / guitarist Joel Parent comments:

“Spüken is the musical equivalent of a magician removing his own entrails. The guts just keep coming, like handkerchiefs from a sleeve, and its painful, colourful and cathartic all at once, in the same way that vomiting after hours of nausea is such a relief. The musical ideas that came together in this project span many years and come from many influences. Hearing them all together is a trip. There were a lot of hard times in the years while this record was being written and most, if not all of these songs are tied together by the search for something greater than oneself. Empowerment by going through ones pain, all this is woven into an album that is another spastic stylistic roller coaster not unlike our previous albums, but with smoother blending. From song to song there is a lot of variance, but within songs we have managed to take contrasting genres and combine them in more nuanced ways, with less hard cuts. This album is colourful, and the palette is dark.”

‘Spüken’ will be available as of April 14th on the band’s online storeiTunesCD Baby and Bandcamp.

ChuggaBoom Trolls Metalcore Elitists In “White Moms Can’t Chugg” Music Video

(Birmingham, United Kingdom – April 12, 2017) – Comedic metalcore outfit, ChuggaBoom is back and trolling the internet trolls with a new single titled, “White Mom’s Can’t Chugg”. The single inspired by Reddit users, comes from their upcoming EP, “Kevin” and is set to release May 12th.

“This song is the Chuggalo Anthem. Anyone who has ever listened to heavy music has been told that its just a phase and to listen to “real music”, but we are here to tell them to fuck off and join the Chugg Life. Its a pledge to both our fans and ourselves that we are never going to sell out and that we will always stay true to what we are – The Greatest Metalcore Band on Earth. The Chuggalos believe in what we stand for, so we need to stay true to that and make sure we are standing in solidarity with them. We’re never selling out, no matter what our parents say!”

Coming onto the UK metal scene two years ago with their debut album “Zodiac Arrest”, the band has quickly made a name for themselves with their satire storyline and obvious chugging riffs.

“After the success of the “Mad Skills Brah!” single, we did what any sensible band would do, and invested the Spotify revenue into a high interest current account and used the money to pay for the materials needed to develop our skills outside of the band,” says bassist Avira Caprica.

Kevin” comes out May 12th and is available to pre-order now. Watch “White Moms Can’t Chugg” below.

Samarkind premiere debut single ‘Sun Stroke Heart’.

Samarkind premiere debut single ‘Sun Stroke Heart’. Watch the new music video.

New hard rock blues band SAMARKIND’s lead single ‘Sun Stroke Heart’ doesn’t miss a beat. Wasting no time introducing itself with locked down grooves, layers of quality soundscapes and stunning, memorable melody hooks weaving a tapestry throughout the track. Classic yet undeniably modern in its delivery, this is a true musical treat for rock fans.

The multi-national group, which features charismatic Irish frontman David Paul Byrne (formally singer for successful hard rock band Assassin and featured vocalist on 80’s cult movie ‘Trick Or Treat’ starring Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons), showcase sublime vocals which are accompanied by the talents of sensational Polish guitarist Michal Kulbaka, Ireland’s Mark Dempsey on bass guitar, and South African born drummer Marius Appelgryn.

“Sun Stroke Heart has this uplifting vibe yet brooding undertones”, the Samarkind frontman explains, “it’s a dark tale of resentment at being let down by those close to us, particularly for me during a time when I was in Spain living a lifestyle in the sun, while underneath feeling a dark emotional pain. Although not aimed at anyone in particular, I feel the song conveys a sense of hurt that we all sometimes feel.”

Recorded at Westland Studio in Dublin with producer Alwyn Walker: Samarkind are currently putting the final touches to their debut album, with a release date set to be announced for later this year.

REVIEW: GraViL- No More Forgiveness

REVIEW: GraViL- No More Forgiveness                                                                                         by Carina Lawrence / Dark Art Conspiracy

GRAVIL_NMF_FRONT.jpg

London based Melodic death metallers GraViL return with their follow up album to their successful debut ‘Thoughts Of A Rising Sun’ with more bite and depth with punishing new album, ‘No More Forgiveness’. The album deals with some heavy and personal issues such as loss, but tries to find strength amongst the negativity.

Opening song ‘Detonate’ gets things off to a colossal start, being explosive from start to finish, delivering a shattering fast paced tech metal offering, which is seriously melodic, aided by its atmospheric ambience.

‘I Am The Blood’ rages full speed ahead with wild impressive guitar work, and with the clean vocals mixed with harsh screamed sections, it makes for a perfect metal anthem, which is bound to go down a storm in the live environment. This is a must hear monstrous track which highlights their musicianship and craft further.

‘Plagues, Thieves and Murderers’ possesses a massive sound while ‘Choke In Silence’ is brimming with angst, and features slick and polished guitar work, making this one brutal hit.

‘Fractured, Divided’ is immediately grabs your attention with its melodic texture and definitely stands out. It displays a different dynamic and almost symphonic sound, especially with the help of Theresa Smith of Metaprism, whose vocals compliment frontman, Grant Stacey’s wonderfully, making this one unforgettable and powerful song, which deals with the very tragic topic of Stacey losing a baby in 2012, as you can imagine it is highly heartfelt.

Lead track ‘Decommissioned’ has an eerie atmospheric intro which builds up, before it fully erupts and is fuelled by anger, with crushing riffs and massive rhythms, packing a hefty punch both musically and lyrically, as it deals with betrayal experienced by the frontman on a wide scale.

Final and heaviest offering ‘One Eyed King’ certainly delivers the final blow, being far reaching and unstoppable, highlighting some of the hardest hitting riffs, in what is the most formidable way to end this speed ridden frenzy of an album.

All ten tracks are meticulously structured, emotionally charged and packed with brutality, and delivered at blistering speeds. There is endless amounts of passion and energy throughout which sees it soar and makes them a deadly and impressive unit. With just two albums under their belts, they are already a force to be reckoned with, and not a band to bury amongst the ever expanding metal genre.

Score: 5/5

‘No More Forgiveness’ is self-released on the 5th May 2017

REVIEW: Emptybrook – Self titled EP

REVIEW: Emptybrook – Self titled EP                                                                                              by Carina lawrence / Dark Art Conspiracy

emptybrook_kansi2700pix.jpg

Emptybrook are a sludge metal act from Finland who formed in 2015. They are inspired by Finnish low budget movies from the 1970’s and 80’s and the short summers in their home country. They inject an organic and raw sound into their sound and showcase this in their debut self-titled EP…

Opener ‘Repeat’ pulls you in with bouncy groovy tuneful riffs, accompanied by crashing drums, and belligerent vocals that are short and make a high impact. This is a hard hitting and surprisingly melodic introduction to the band…

The brilliant comically titled, ‘The Grand King Of Fuckery’ is heavy as hell, with its stomping sludge sounds offering a complimentary backdrop to the evil harsh vocals – this will surely have you head banging and will be a great extreme live anthem.

‘A Song For The End Of Days’ features drawn out sinister guitars, and sounds like something serious is going down. This is the most beastly song so far with vocalist, Ollijuhani sounding very pissed off and fed up. This has a slower pace, driven by a heavy rhythm that is almost chilled out, in contrast to the full on vocals, and finishes on some nice ambient guitar work, making it memorable.

The winner for funniest titled song goes to ‘Smoking Weed With Numbskull Emptybrook’ poking fun at themselves, and not being too serious lyrically. Initially they look to cause your ears distress with a high pitched alarming sound, before it batters you with its heavy sludge weight. It turns out to be rather upbeat sounding musically for this genre, due to its tone and fast pace, giving it a lighter vibe in this short offering.

Closing song, ‘Hit The Wall Or Hit The Ground’ takes things down a notch, before picking up to deliver a pummelling final blow to end this debut EP.

This is a solid and rather enjoyable EP, the band should be proud of their inception, especially with them getting the right balance of humour, seriousness and melodies to soften the harshness of the genre, making it must hear for sludge metal fans.

Score: 3.5 / 5

Emptybrook’s Self-titled debut cassette/digital release is released on April 17th 2017.
