Swedish extreme tech-metal pioneers MESHUGGAH have entered Sweetspot Studios in Sweden to record their ninth studio album and follow-up to their highly acclaimed and Grammy Nominated album, The Violent Sleep Of Reason.
The band comments, “Things are happening. As some of you figured out we have entered Sweetspot Studios and have begun recording a new album. ::Spoiler:: There will be distortion and kicks.
After over 35 years of existence, Candlemass still stand tall as true heavy metal greats & kings of doom, in the footsteps of their influences, Black Sabbath. The band is renowned for the genre-defining masterpieces ‘Epicus Doomicus Metallicus’ (1986) & ‘Nightfall’ (1987), with Candlemass still thrilling an ever-devoted and expanding legion of fans to this day.
And in the end we all dance, laughing, into our doom: with a stirring coup de grâce of artful short film and extended song, the Swiss band CELLAR DARLING herald a new, furiously audiovisual era of their work.
Already a few weeks ago, CELLAR DARLING released their new piece “DANCE” about the mysterious dancing plague of 1518, an eleven-minute mammoth project that resembles a Celtic prog symphony more than a conventional rock song. Equally courageous and visionary, the trio of Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter and Ivo Henzi is now breaking new ground visually, as well: the corresponding video could not be further from a typical clip. Instead, CELLAR DARLING take us into a nightmarish forest scenery, somewhere between TOOL and Shakespeare, between dark fairy tale and contaminated apocalypse. But in this case, we ourselves are the virus.
Twice Grammy-nominated band AUGUST BURNS RED — JB Brubaker [lead guitar], Brent Rambler [rhythm guitar], Matt Greiner [drums], Jake Luhrs [lead vocals], and Dustin Davidson [bass] — have been sharing previously unreleased tracks, such as a cover of System of a Down’s ‘Chop Suey!’ and their metalized rendition of the theme song for the HBO series Westworld, over the past several months.
Today, the Lancaster-based band revealed that these songs (and more) will live on theGuardians Sessions EP.
Early last year, Sepultura released their sensational new record Quadra –a contemporary thrash monument, backed by sublime melodies and technical dexterity. Itching to perform new tracks live to their fans, the band are thrilled to announce a UK leg to their Quadra European Tour, already announced for later this year.
Andreas Kisser stated, “I’m so thrilled to announce the UK tour for November, it has been a crazy year and I miss the stage so much. We will have the chance to perform the news songs from our last album QUADRA for the first time plus all the best songs of our career. I can’t wait to see you all again from the stage, don’t miss this! Stay safe and well and see you all soon!”

It goes without saying that the global metal scene would not be the same without Sepultura. For 35 years now, the Brazilian icons are not only a band revered worldwide; they have been, are and forever will be at the very forefront of thrash metal, trailblazing ever since they released their long-since legendary debut album Morbid Visions in 1986.
While quickly establishing themselves as leaders of the second wave of thrash in the late eighties, to this day they never came even close to stagnation. Quadra, their mighty new undertaking, is proof of a will unbroken, a thirst unquenched and a quality so staggeringly high it’s a wonder this band doesn’t implode. Now three albums deep into what may very well be their strongest incarnation yet – uniting the talents of old-school members Andreas Kisser (guitars, vocals) and Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. (bass), vocal force of nature Derrick Leon Green (vocals) and drummer Eloy Casagrande – Sepultura are an unleashed power to be reckoned with, uniting bucketloads of experience and youthful vigour in a totally revived way.
