Nighon to release second album in May, first single out now!

Nighon’s second album ‘The Somme’ was recorded in the spring and summer of 2016. The drums were recorded at Soundspiral Audio, with Juho Räihä. The rest was recorded at Nighon’s home studio. Mathias Lillmåns (Finntroll, Magenta Harvest, Chthonian, etc.) has co-produced the album with Nighon. He is also featured on the song “I Fear For Tomorrow”. The album was mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman, Gothenburg Sweden.

The album is a concept album with stories from World War I, World War II and the similarities between those and the crises we see today in our world. The sound is much more extreme than previous Nighon compositions, widening the contrasts even more than before. The album is supposed to be heard in it’s entirety non-stop. The single “The Greatest of Catastrophes” is a blend of the outbreak of World War I and the Ukraine crisis. The video was filmed during the winter 2016 by Kasper DalkarlDavid Viklund and Stephanie Blomqvist.

The Somme is released May 5th 2017 by Inverse Records.

Hellbound Hearts have released a video clip for their new song ‘The light we cannot see’

Hellbound Hearts have released a video clip for their new song ‘The light we cannot see’, taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘Film Noir’ (out 7th April)

Hellbound Hearts lead vocalist and guitarist Danny Lambert talks about the songs on ‘Film Noir’:

Suffering the Radio

“The last great period of British music is a fading memory, replaced with an acceptance and almost macabre celebration of staggering mediocrity, formulaic unit shifters and false celebrity. But there are some who will not accept that all hope is lost. We are the vampires scrambling for the blood….”

Online zine ‘One Metal’ describes Hellbound Hearts as, “the kind of music that should be played with high octane and fervent amounts of passion.” With the emergence of their debut album, ‘Film Noir’, the Yorkshire alternative rock trio have solidified the promise shown on previous eps in a fashion that simply shouldn’t be ignored if you’re a rock fan.
Produced by Matt Ellis at Axis Studios (Black Spiders, Terrorvision), ‘Film Noir’ is a commanding collection of songs that range from feel-good melodies to dark, sinister hooks, whilst all the time packing in stand out singalong choruses and heavy grooves.
Be prepared to go dark… ‘Film Noir’ is released 7th April 2017.

GraViL return with new single ‘Decommissioned’ / Sophomore album ‘No More Forgiveness’

The new GraViL album ‘No More Forgiveness’ is released 5th May 2017.

“Mammoth grooves from a technically advanced future” Metal Hammer

“GraViL showcase confidence with fantastic, blistering songs” Terrorizer

“Brutalising Tech Metal Wizardry” Kerrang!

With fire and no fear on their side, 2017 sees GraViL rise from the big smoke with the release of their new album ‘No More Forgiveness’ on 5th May.

Before the album drops, the band pulls no punches with the introduction of lead track ‘Decommissioned’.
Frontman Grant Stacey isn’t holding back with GraViL’s return to form, he said, “There is a massive sub-context of loss within the new album, with 2016 notably being a brutal year, however ‘No More Forgiveness’ pulls in a lot of strength from negativity that all too often engulfs our society and ways of life. It’s time to make a stand and do what’s right… and this is us, doing things right.”
GraViL’s new single ‘Decommissioned’ isn’t shy in coming forward, as Stacey notes, “It deals with betrayal on a huge scale. One of my favourite songs from the album, it’s really punchy and therapeutic, in a twisted kinda’ way!”

VI to Re-Release Debut EP

French black metal newcomers VI, featuring current and ex-members of Aosoth and Antaeus, will re-release their debut EP, “De Praestigiis Daemonum”, on March 31st via Agonia Records. The re-release, re-mastered by M. (Mgła) in No Solace Studio, will include a new cover made by Adrian Baxter.

unnamed (80).jpg

The line-up of VI is shaped by INVRI (Aosoth, ex-Antaeus) on guitars and vocals, BST (Aosoth, ex-Antaeus, The Order Of Apollyon) on bass and Blastum (ex-Aosoth, ex-Antaeus, Merrimack) on drums. Their music bestirs within the characteristic black metal niche developed by the said bands, with the addition of expanded guitar work, choirs and subtle sample parts. VI describes their music as “extreme, devoted black metal with illuminated chaos”.

INVRI commented on the re-release:

“This first offering always meant a lot to us. This is where it all started. We keep listening to it wondering how we managed to release such a beast. 10 years later, we still dont get it. All went so fast, from the composing to the unexpected acclamation. It took years to compose something else, it was so intense and natural that we feared we could never do better. Re-releasing this EP is the opportunity for all of you to put your hands on it, and it was a good opportunity for us to refresh that old demon we cherish so much”.
Working with Adrian Baxter, Kontamination Design and No Solace was such an experience. One more time with this release, everything went fast. All this worldwide team managed to provide a brand new face in only few days and we feel honored to see how much efforts have been put into this release while, few years ago, only a bunch of maniacs believed in us.
We would like to thanks the Agonia team, for being a part of those. This release will now never die and will rise, and will shine upon us for the next decade and more to come.

Available formats:
– Gatefold black LP.
– Gatefold gold LP.
Digital.

Steve Williams of Power Quest comments:
I’m really pleased to have sealed the deal with Emil and Inner Wound for the release of the next PQ opus. We were in discussions for a couple of months, during which time the salient points of the deal were already agreed before I recently flew to Gothenburg to sign the agreement in person. In this age of faceless business it was refreshing to do things the old fashioned way. I’m really excited about this collaboration and we have a lot of cool things planned for the next 12 months.
Emil Westerdahl of Inner Wound Recordings comments:
It’s a true pleasure to announce the signing of POWER QUEST to the label. During the past few months that Steve and I have been in contact it’s become clear that we share the same vision for the band and that POWER QUEST and Inner Wound is a perfect fit. I am really excited about the cooperation and also confident that together we’ll be able to take POWER QUEST to the next level.
