About BML:

Black Mourning Light Metal Festival is the black metal and doom festival founded by Dustin Ekman of Crown of Viserys. Created to fill a void in Edmonton’s black and doom scene. After two successful years in 2015 and 2016, Black Mourning Light Festival returns for a 2017 edition. The 2017 onslaught will feature bands from across Canada and USA. Those that attended the 2015 inaugural ritual and the 2016 two day mayhem will not be disappointed by 2017, as they can expect a different while similar experience to those events.

Last year’s 2016 edition featured a line up of black, death and doom bands from across Canada plus the USA with UADA, Panzerfaust, Erimha, Helleborus, Idolatry, Display of Decay, Vile Insignia, Hive, Wormwitch, Norilsk, Cell, Holocaust Lord, Nachtterror, Dethgod, Ye Goat-Herd Gods and Hunted By Ravens.

Kent Alt-Hardcore Band COVE Unveil New Video SOLIS

Kent’s COVE mark their return by unleashing blistering new video SOLIS on an unsuspecting world. The track brims with energy and ear for detail, cementing the band as masters of cacophony who are set to make one hell of a dent in British heavy music.

The meaning of the song Solis is subjective to the listener, everyone in the band helped contribute to it and in a way we all have our own definition of what the song is about. To some it may hint at the idea of when one door closes another opens and to someone else it may point at something far more emotive, the loss of a loved one for example. We feel song values are compromised when the outright meaning is spelled out too easily, it’s like telling someone the end of a film before they’ve watched it. Our way of thinking is that the meaning is personal to the individual/individuals listening at that moment in time. We believe this gives the audience a way to have their own personal connection with a song and not be persuaded into what they should take from it

Recorded by Tom Keech (We Are The Ocean, Don Broco) in the midst of British winter at a studio that was undergoing construction, the icy and derelict surroundings helped to spawn the creation of SOLIS. Having spent much of 2017 crafting new music, the track is a taster of things to come from COVE. Comprising of vocalist Ben Shorten, bassist Charlie Smith, drummer Jack Bowdery and guitarists Ben Brazier & Pete Woolven, COVE released their debut effort We Were Once Lost in October of 2016. Widespread praise for the record fuelled a hefty touring schedule, including shows with Blood Youth, Create To Inspire and Holding Absence.

The band will also hit the road at the end of this month throughout August, with two date supporting Holding Absence:

7th Jul – The Ex, Corby
26th Jul – Black Heart, London
4th Aug – Forum, Tunbridge Wells (w/ Holding Absence)
5th Aug – The Booking Hall, Dover (w/ Holding Absence)
9th Aug – Sticky Mike’s, Brighton
10th Aug – Subside, Birmingham
11th Aug – O’RIleys, Hull
12th Aug – The Garage Attic, Glasgow
13th Aug – Santiagos, Leeds
1st Oct – Deadbolt Festival, Manchester

ESKIMO CALLBOY – release “MC Thunder” video taken from the album “The Scene”

For their new video for the song “MC Thunder” ESKIMO CALLBOY have a very special guest: They went on a little cruise though LA with Hand Of Blood:

You can still check out “The Scene feat. Fronz” under the following link: https://youtu.be/mVTxyZNV2IM
The video was directed and produced by the band themselves and isn’t just featuring a whole marching band, but also Chris ‘Fronz’ Fronzak from Attila.

Both songs are taken from the upcoming album, “The Scene”. Recorded and mixed at ESKIMO CALLBOY’s home studio, “The Scene” was then shipped off to Pitchback Studios for mastering with Aljoscha Sieg (Nasty, Any Given Day, We Butter The Bread With Butter…). Like most bands of the modern era, ESKIMO CALLBOY opted to record and mix their own music instead of hiring on a named producer. Their reasoning is simple: nobody is more passionate about music as the members of the band.

SILVERSTEIN Stream New Song ‘WHIPLASH’

-NEW ALBUM ‘DEAD REFLECTION’ OUT 14TH JULY 2017 VIA RISE RECORDS
-UK TOUR FOR THIS WINTER WITH SUPPORT FROM HAIL THE SUN

Ontario,  Canada’s  post-hardcore  heavyweights, Silverstein have released a new song ‘Whiplash’ which is taken from recently announced new full length, Dead Reflection, due out July 14th via Rise Records. As well as announcing support for their upcoming UK tour from Hail The Sun.

Dead Reflection is Silverstein’s eighth full length,  a  feat  reached  by  very  few  bands,  especially  within  the  heavy  music world where youthful  fire and aggression  is often finite. Silverstein,  however, have  always  been  an  outlier,  and Dead  Reflection proves  that  the  band  still has plenty  of  fight left. The band  pushed themselves harder than ever  before resulting  in  an  album  the  takes  all  of Silverstein’s  strengths–pummeling  riffs, explosive  dynamic  shifts,  and  hugely  anthemic  choruses — and  ramps  up  the intensity,  demonstrating  exactly  why Silverstein remain  at  the  top  of  their game over 17 years into their career.

Silverstein have always managed to be completely comfortable in their own skin while never being afraid  to grow, however, the evolution from Ontario basement  shows to touring the world over and selling over a million records hasn’t  always  been  easy. Dead  Reflection finds Silverstein once  again fuelled by the darkest of times. After finishing a gruelling touring cycle in support of 2015’s I Am Alive In Everything I  Touch, vocalist Shane Told found himself at his  lowest  point. Told related, “I was not in a good place a  year ago. This record tells the story of how broken I was, how I found myself on a path of self-destruction, and how I had to fight to get my sanity and happiness back”.

The band are no strangers to utilising the hardest parts of life to power their creativity and Dead Reflection is undeniably as harrowing as it is cathartic, but for Silverstein there is no settling, no stopping, and they give nothing less than everything.

You can see Silverstein with support from Hail The Sun at the following date this winter:

Friday 8th December Southampton @ Talking Heads

Saturday 9th December  Brighton @ The Haunt

Sunday 10th December  Cardiff @ The Globe

Tuesday 12th December Glasgow @ G2

Wednesday 13th December  Newcastle @ Think Tank

Thursday 14th December  Manchester @ Sound Control

Friday 15th December  Huddersfield @ The Parish

Saturday 16th December  London @ Garage

Formed in 2000 in Burlington, ON Canada, Silverstein has become as close to a household name as you can get in the post-hardcore scene. The journey from Burlington to over 40 countries manifests itself in the sounds of eight full-length albums, countless EPs, and singles- though perhaps never more saliently than it is heard now. Some 1,760 shows, and over one million albums sold have yet to satiate the dynamic five piece, nor their eager listeners worldwide.

Silverstein is Shane Told (vocals), Paul Koehler (drums), Josh Bradford (guitar), Billy Hamilton (bass) and Paul-Marc Rousseau (guitar).
