Just one month to go until KORPIKLAANI‘s first ever live Blu-ray/DVD+2CD package titled »Live at Masters of Rock« will see the light of day on August 25th through Nuclear Blast. Last week the band’s folk section revealed interesting info on the special show they played at Masters of Rock in 2016 (Disc 1), but today it’s about time for the Folk Metal Superstars to unveil another musical appetizer from this upcoming live release. Finnish Folk Metal Superstars KORPIKLAANI will release their first ever live Blu-ray/DVD+2CD package titled »Live at Masters of Rock«, on August 25th, 2017 through Nuclear Blast. In support of this release, the band with front man Jonne Järvelä has unleashed the first single‘Pilli on pajusta tehty’, which can be purchased here: http://nblast.de/KorpiklaaniDigital
After hearing the title of the package, it’s easy to conclude that it was recorded at the identically named festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic. But there’s even more to be excited about, this release doesn’t just include KORPIKLAANI‘s show from 2016, it even has a second full show from 2014 as bonus feature. The 2016 concert features guest appearances from Tero Hyväluoma (additional fiddler) as well as Toni Perttula (additional accordion player), Sami‘s identical twin brother. Mixing and mastering of »Live at Masters of Rock« were handled by front man Jonne Järvelä himself.
Jonne comments, “This our first ever DVD release, which we are quite proud of. It has no backing tracks, no choirs, no samples, all the mistakes are included. It is just us, KORPIKLAANI, pure live rock ‘n’ roll.”
He also adds, “I spent a lot of time during the mastering process with Svante Forsbäck who recently handled the RAMMSTEIN mastering and we worked hard to achieve the right ambience and crowd sound. So when you turn it up loud, it feels like you are right there in the middle.”
Sami adds, “For us, our bigger shows means more folk musicians, which are much cheaper than pyro, for example my brother agreed to this show for a few beers and he doesn’t even drink much!”

The folk/power metal band WIND ROSE just released a lyric video for the track “The Wolves’ Call” from their new album “Stonehymn”. The album will be released on May 26th in Europe and North America through Inner Wound Recordings.
Having toured with bands like Wintersun, Eluveitie and Ensiferum, and with two successful albums under their belt, WIND ROSE are ready to take things to the next level with the release of their third album “Stonehymn”, an album filled by the epic, powerful and folk inspired brand of power metal the band is known for.
“Stonehymn” was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni [DGM, Ancient Bards, Secret Sphere] and the artwork was created by Jan Yrlund [Apocalyptica, Korpiklaani, Tyr].

WIND ROSE are confirmed for Masters of Rock 2017, that takes place in Vizovice [CZ] on July 13-16th. Other bands confirmed for the festival are Sabaton, Running Wild, Kreator, Edguy, Epica and more.
It was a tricky question… How would Swedish duo Vintersorg continue after 2014’s intriguing album “Naturbål”? Shunning repetition, vocalist and mastermind Andreas „Vintersorg“ Hedlund did the unthinkable and composed a sequel to his groundbreaking 1998 album “Till Fjälls”, which is considered to be one of the most important albums in the genre of black/folk metal!
What to expect from “Till Fjälls del II”? No scientific lyrical concept, no progressive trickery, but a heartfelt return to snowcapped mountains, pure nature-inspired mysticism, Nordic folklore and real black metal with a captivating epic streak. VINTERSORG share a vision of equally harsh and melodic soundscapes that melt the raging extremes of the late 90s with the focus of 2016.
