Bloodstock Festival announces GraViL + watch ‘Detonate’ new music video
“Pure metal delivered with maximum vitriol. This band rules harder than Josef Stalin.” – Dom Lawson
Watch the new music video ‘Detonate’
The latest announcement by Bloodstock Open Air sees the London melodeath group Gravil confirmed for the prestigious Sophie Lancaster stage on Sunday 14th August. This new addition to the bill once again demonstrates Bloodstock’s commitment to championing new bands in the metal community.
“We are honoured to be a part of Bloodstock Open Air 2017” says Gravil vocalist Grant Stacey. “Each year this spiritual home of heavy metal somehow betters the year before. We have each spent a lot of time on the hallowed ground of Catton Park, witnessing stunning new bands, the earth shattering veterans of the main stage and embracing the metal music community that we have come to call our family. Now we are privileged to grace the Sophie stage, whose very name represents the strength and pride of our brotherhood. See you there!”
2017 has seen a resurgence for GraViL. Their sophomore album ‘No More Forgiveness’ was released in May and has being going down a storm with media and the band’s fanbase. With various premieres by the likes of Metal Hammer, Scuzz TV, Terrorizer and more, GraViL have now unleashed the music video for elite track ‘Detonate’.
This new video clip shows the group in a high-octane performance which also features three versions of the mysterious woman, ‘Obliti’… the present broken self, a lost dream of grandeur and the self-loathing dark entity which destroyed it.
“‘Detonate’ is a personal song drawn from a negative situation”, explains Stacey, “The video captures the lyrics perfectly… it tackles loss, taking charge and using the anger, rage and sadness to triumph over the overwhelming paint that the loss entails… hence detonating.”
Whilst the song and video reflect important issues in our society, it didn’t stop the band from taking time out to have fun on set and inflict ‘crabcore’ on non-believers.
“On the way to the video shoot we discussed how low our guitarists get to the floor during live shows. Sparx (bass) mentioned it was called crabcore and a confused Charlie (Webster, guitar) refused point blank to believe there was such a thing. Like a red rag to a bull this spurred us onto mischief, leading to the band shouting “crab it” during the performance sections and band members having to get as low as physically possible to the floor without taking the soles of their feet off the ground.”
Gravil’s new album ‘No More Forgiveness’ is out now.

Four musicians from four different countries with four entirely different biographies, yet all stemming from the world of Rock, now united in one band: EXIT EDEN!
The all-female four piece ensemble unites all attributes ascribed to the new millennium: cosmopolitan, self-confident-independent and ready to do their very own thing! Despite their diversity, the four singers Amanda Somerville, Clémentine Delauney, Marina La Torraca and Anna Brunner blend together personally as superbly as they do vocally with their very diverse vocal tones and techniques that go from opera style to raspy rock! This constellation created extraordinary and powerful ideas and finally became their unique plan to raise EXIT EDEN’s very own edge: to show the world that almost every classic song can be transformed into a solid metal-rock song.
EXIT EDEN’s debut “Rhapsodies in Black”, which will be released on August 4 via Napalm Records (worldwide excluding Germany/Switzerland/Austria via Starwatch), is home to a colourful mix of international super hits from Rihanna to Madonna, from Depeche Mode to Adele, and many more! Still and all, it’s miles away from being just a cover album. A first video will present a grand entrance very soon! Stay tuned for more updates on EXIT EDEN!
Who the musicians are:
Amanda Somerville:
Amanda is a rock-solid authority of the music scene: both as a solo artist and sharing success and the stage with bands like AVANTASIA, EPICA and KAMELOT. Though her US-American roots are based in Pop & Rock, she fell in love with the Metal scene and made it her home. She has toured with Alice Cooper, Ian Gillan and many more legends with her commanding voice and fronts the projects TRILLIUM and Kiske Somerville (with HELLOWEEN icon Michael Kiske). All of this, combined with her wide range of experience, grants her a unique edge and a permanent address in the Metal world.
Anna Brunner:
A natural talent, Anna began singing at a very young age. As a daughter of a German father and an American mother, she grew up bilingual and founded her first Rock band as a teenager. Due to a music study that lead her through different parts of the world, she garnered a multitude of experience and it became crystal clear to her: music has to rock – and vocals need to be emotional – just like a passionate scream.
Marina La Torraca:
Hailing from Brazil, Marina was born with rhythm in her blood. As the auspicious frontwoman of several Metal bands since the age of 15, her path led her to Europe, where she got to perform with AVANTASIA and to found her up-and-coming band, PHANTOM ELITE. Since having studied musical theater in New York, the versatile singer and actress can also be seen internationally in musical productions, including the upcoming German tour of the Broadway-Hit, RENT. For her, being close to the crowd is what counts – no problem for her and her natural convincing character.
Clémentine Delauney:
Clémentine was born near Paris 30 years ago. She has been a multi talent since her childhood days – no matter if she was dancing, playing the piano or singing – she enchanted her audience. At the age of 16, she joined her first Metal band, she is currently fronting Symphonic Metal outfit VISIONS OF ATLANTIS and also worked with SERENITY and MELTED SPACE. Another one of her career highlights is her participation on Kai Hansen’s (HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY) first solo album, released in 2016. Thus, Clémentine has carved her way into being one of the great performers of the scene.
“Rhapsodies in Black” tracklist:
1. Question Of Time
2. Unfaithful
3. Incomplete
4. Impossible
5. Frozen
6. Heaven
7. Firework
8. Skyfall

Greekoccult black metal legends, VARATHRON, are gearing up to record a new album, titled "Patriarchs Of Evil". Heavy, dark and full of melodies, the record will revive memories from the past. The band is currently finishing the pre-production and is scheduled to record drums in July. In September, VARATHRON will take a break for a mini-tour of Canada, and return to finish the album in early autumn. More details will be announced in due time.
VARATHRON plans more shows for 2018, including anniversary shows celebrating the 30th year of their existence. HERE’s a new video from their last show in Ukraine.
Upcoming tour dates:
8 września – Montreal, Wings Of Metal Festival (CAN),
9 września – Ottawa, Mavericks (CAN),
10 września – Toronto, Smiling Buddha (CAN).
VARATHRON was formed in 1988. The band’s early albums are considered as cornerstones of the Hellenic black metal scene, alongside the releases of Necromantia and Rotting Christ, with whom the group shared members as well as similar fascination towards early style. VARATHRON‘s trademark are mid-paced riffs that have a classic, old-school feel strengthened by a progressive view, as well as epic atmosphere that only few can match.
Line-up: Stefan Necroabyssious – vocals Achilleas C – guitars Sotiris – guitars Stratos – bass Haris – drums
SKINFLINT released a promotion trailer for the upcoming album “Chief Of the Ghosts”. The pre-oder phaste starts on 23th June 2017. The new album will official released on 7th June 2017 via PURE STEEL RECORDS.
SKINFLINT from Botswana, a country that is not well known for traditional Metal or Rock in general, already can be considered to one of the old guards on our label. Very rightly, albums like „Iklwa“ (2010) and „Dipoko“ (2012) are small classics nowadays in the underground. A perfect combination between traditional Heavy/Epic Metal and decent African folk music.
The trio around Giuseppe „Juice“ Sbrana continues with their old tradition also on the fifth long player „Chief Of The Ghosts“. Rough and simple, yet with much sensitivity for the decent exotic touch, there are nine new songs, again partly sung in their native language Setswana.
Those who already love the predecessors won’t be disappointed with „Chief Of The Ghosts“ at all.
Brighton trio Grymm return with their latest captivating effort exploring further their eclectic fusion of post-rock, indie andgrunge. Blending together jagged guitar noise, catchy pop riffs and an indie-rock songwriting mentality, Grymm present a proficiency in the creation of gritty grunge but not to the detriment of a strong melodic aptitude.
With each release – since the band burst onto Brighton’s music scene in early 2016 – Grymm have introduced different elements to their brash, multifarious sound; debut single ‘Jurassic‘ bearing heavy pop sensibilities. ‘Gravity‘, rather, delves into quiet-to-loud grunge with a post-rock sonic.
"This song is essentially about all the ways abusive people in your life made you feel worthless, and also how their acts have traumatised you and changed you as a person. ‘You pull and wrench and tear away at me, you’re worse than gravity’ – but also how much that emotion of feeling degraded, and worn away can make you not like what you’ve become when being treated that way." – Morgan Jones (Vocals/Lead Guitar)
LIVE DATES
29th May – The Prince Albert
10th June – Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar (Single Launch)
15th June – Chichester Inn
