Groundbreaking art-rock performer, author and spoken word artist OTEP shook things up at SXSW this past weekend by dropping her latest artistic protest of mounting regressive political actions. OTEP took a further stand for equal rights with the world premiere of her empowering new music video for the heavy, rap-influenced track “Equal Rights Equal Lefts”.
Fans at Colours Couture’s SXSW fashion showcase presented by 3Thirteen Entertainment Group this weekend were treated to the video (directed by Aleks Rastovic) for the first time during OTEP‘s headlining set. The “Equal Rights Equal Lefts” video and track further solidify OTEP‘s diligent quest for equality: “I wrote this song to celebrate and empower all people to live their authentic selves, to live their truth, and to fight for their right to exist. Every day the LGBTQ community faces bigotry, bullying, ridicule and legislative attacks. We are not “the other”. We are your friends, your family, your neighbors, your coworkers, your doctors, nurses, soldiers and fellow Americans. Simply put, this song and this video are about love and equality.”

Tomorrow marks the release of HYBORIAN‘s debut album, Hyborian: Volume I, via KC-based label The Company. After gracing heavy music fans with their singles “Maelstrom” and “Dead Lies Dreaming“, as well as the music video for “As Above, So Below“, the band is streaming their entire new album a day early!
 
Guitarist/frontman Martin Bush says: “We can’t wait to have this record out and into people’s hands. THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA Reveal “Amber Galactic” Album Covers, Track Listing & Formats

Swedish classic/progressive rock supergroup THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA – featuring members of metal frontrunners Soilwork and Arch Enemy – have revealed the album cover artworks for their forthcoming third studio album, Amber Galactic, which is scheduled to be released on May 19, 2017 via Nuclear Blast. Singer Björn Strid states: “Amber Galactic” is a relationship drama set in space, the first classic rock space opera on double vinyl. As seasoned musicians, we’re taking this project seriously, although we might come across as slightly retrofuturistic at times, there’s no irony involved. It’s just us trying to shape our future into a place where our race is led by female space commanders with pearl necklaces and a quasar sense of gravity. “Amber Galactic” is about setting free from genre boundaries and expectations that are put on people like us. We just want to create music that we would like to hear ourselves, but that isn’t only for us.

 

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA is here to set you free, to invite you to enjoy music in whatever form it is presented. For this particular journey, we’d like you to follow us into space, but who knows where we’ll go next! After entering the NFO universe, you won’t ever be the same!”

 

Amber Galactic will be available as a limited edition digipak CD featuring an alternate cover art (see below), 2LP vinyl (black and violet sparkle) and as digital download and stream via all known platforms.

When asked about the direction of NFO within the realm of classic rock, Strid explains with a chuckle: “Most other classic rock bands sound like weed or LSD – we sound like cocaine.”

Amber Galactic was recorded at Handsome Hard Studio in Lund, Sweden. The album follows THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA‘s two previous releases, 2012’s Internal Affairsand 2015’s Skyline Whispers.

SAWTHIS Release New 360-Degree Music Video + Announce Album Details

The band chose to film in 360-degree to create the illusion of a “virtual square”, allowing the viewer to control their own vantage point. Bassist Gaetano Ettorre states, “‘For the “Start A New Game’ music video, we created a “modern square” full of confusion and solitude. This square seems crowded by virtual people projected on the protagonist through the monitors, but at the end it’s just a bare and sad room. The protagonist can’t stop watching the monitors as he is essentially fed by that media, so he eventually becomes a puppet under virtual oppression.”
 
SAWTHIS regard Babhell as their best work to date. Ettorre states, “Babhell, in general, touches upon themes of poor human communication and its negative result. Everyone is talking, and no one is listening or looking at what’s happening right in front of them. Ultimately, in a world where everyone is talking and no one is listening, honest dialogue becomes impossible and thoughts become just noise like a Babel, a hellish Babel, hence the name Babhell. If I had to choose a term to describe the sound of the record, it would be ‘multi-emotional chaos’. Our music is a balance of rage and happiness, resignation and reaction, love and hate-Babhell represents a perfect mix of everything.”

nternationally-renowned heavy rock leaders LAMB OF GOD will support headlining metal legends Slayer, along with fellow supporting death metal group Behemoth, on what is set to be this summer’s most-anticipated heavy music tour. The six-week expedition will rage across North America beginning July 12 in Bemidji, MN, winding up in Phoenix, AZ on August 20.
Slayer and LAMB OF GOD will also play Wisconsin’s Rock Fest 2017 (7/13) and Rock USA 2017 (7/15), and then meet up with Behemoth at the Chicago Open Air Festival on July 16.  Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 3; log on to http://www.slayer.net/tour or http://www.lamb-of-god.com for all purchasing details.
