Takida are one of Sweden’s most popular rock bands going and having just recently finished their ‘A Perfect World’ UK and Europe tour in support of their latest album I caught up with guitarist Tomas Wallin to discuss this, their origins and what lies ahead in the future for the band and much more…
Can you tell us about your formation back in 1999?
Robert gave me (Tomas) a phone call and asked me if I wanted to join his band. We were a three-piece back then. We wrote our own songs from day one and we worked really hard to get our demos out. There have been a few members in the band but me and Rob are the only original ones left.
What made you decide on the name Takida and is true that this is taken from a character in a Japanese anime series called Nagareboshi Gin (It’s called Silver fang in Sweden)?
Yes, that’s true. Robert was, and still is, a very devoted Silver Fang fan. When we had to have a name for the band to put on the cover of our first demo (old), he suggested Gohei Takida. We shortened it down to Takida and that was it.

Ahead of the band’s forthcoming headline tour, SikTh, have revealed a new video for the song “The Aura” from their recently released new album The Future In Whose Eyes?
The new clip, already confirmed as Scuzz TV’s Spankin’ New Video Of The Week, was directed by SikTh’s own Mikee W Goodman, here he comments on video concept: “The Aura” was initially lyrically inspired by a day I spent with a magical being. It then spiralled into dreamscape memories and reflections. I tried to bring this out in the music video. The shadows of dancers appear now and then which is a direct link to the chorus lyrics. The rest of the story is told through one actress playing the flower being role. All this is intercut with band footage. “

LETHVM (doom sludge – Belgium) has signed to label Deadlight (ORACLES, WITCHTHROAT SERPENT, PRIMAL AGE) for the release of their debut album “This Fall SHall Cease”. Formed in Belgium during the year 2015, LETHVMdelivers the perfect blend between hard boiled doom laden sludge and extreme metal. A few months ago, the quartet entered Noise Factory Studio (CHANNEL ZERO) to record their debut album entitled “This Fall Shall Cease” which release is set for the end of the year.
“I came to the knowing of LETHVM when I was attending Roadburn Festival 2016 where Cult of Occult was playing and they introduced to theses guys. Later in november 2016, I saw them live in their hometown in Belgium along with other bands like BATHSHEBA and I was totally impressed by their show!
To say I was impatient to listen to their album is an euphemism and I was quickly conquered by it when they came back to me when the album was recorded” says Deadlight boss Alexandre Martinez
