SATYRICON SIGN WORLDWIDE DEAL WITH NAPALM RECORDS! Brand New Album Coming This Fall!

Norwegian black metal legends SATYRICON have signed a worldwide deal with Napalm Records and entered the studio to begin recording a brand new album!

Formed in 1991 in Oslo, SATYRICON reinvented the world of extreme music. With their third album ‘Nemesis Divina’ released back in 1996, their status as one of the most significant and creatively vital bands in Norwegian black metal was already beyond dispute. When this most illustrious and influential piece of dark art was successfully re-released with Napalm Records in the Spring of 2016 and in celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary, it marked a cornerstone to extend the relationship to a worldwide record deal between the Austrian label and pioneers of black metal in SATYRICON.

Monolord kick off their UK tour next week, on May 18th at The Underworld in London. The band won many new fans last year with a slot on the Desertfest London main stage, sharing the bill with (Electric Wizard and Trouble) and now return to headline in their own right.

“Diamonds is a song that pays homage to the legacy of the band,” says vocalist Rasmus Andersen.” It features vintage and modern performance footage from Diamond Head’s career. It reflects on the band’s 40 years and gives lyrical nods that point to some of Diamond Head’s best songs.”

The video, created by Emmy Award nominee Roman at Snakejam Studios, precedes the band’s upcoming return to the United States for the first of two short runs that include performances at Rocklahoma Festival on May 27th and Psycho Circus in Las Vegas on August 19.

“We are really looking forward to Rocklahoma which will be our largest US festival to date,” notes Andersen. “We hope to see and meet loads of fans on our shows between the 17th and 27th of May. We will be playing songs from our new album and classic catalogue along with one or two surprises for the hard core fans.”

Released via Dissonance Productions last June, Diamond Head is the first album to feature Andersen on vocals. Its release ended an eight-year silence for the New Wave of British Heavy Metal icon.

Formed in 1976, DIAMOND HEAD influenced a slew of early 80’s thrash metal bands, in particular Metallica who recorded the band’s “Am I Evil” as a b-side to their 1984 Creeping Death single and again included on the band’s multi-platinum 1998 covers album Garage Inc. Metallica would record three additional DIAMOND HEAD songs – “Helpless” (Garage Days, 1987), “The Prince” (“One Single b-side, 1989), “It’s Electric” (Garage Inc., 1998).

Dissonance Productions additionally issued for the band’s 2005 album All Will Be Revealed and 2007 album What’s In Your Head.

Shining release video teaser for Art House documentary feat. Niklas Kvarforth

SHINING have released a video teaser for an arthouse documentary feat. Niklas Kvarforth, entitled “Cold Void”. The notorious founder of the Swedish black metal act is the focal point of a new movie. The documentary tries to capture a personal portrait of Niklas Kvarforth, who has made headlines that have involved addiction, suicide and self-destruction, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, passion, and exceptional musicianship. The project was undertaken by arthouse producer Claudio Marino and his film production company Artax Film. The teaser clip can be viewed at and shared from the YouTube link below.

Claudio Marino states that “Cold Void” is a film for anyone interested in life stories, and was not made with the intention of pandering to SHINING‘s fans. It is very much a personal journey, bringing a much-needed clarity and lack of sensationalism to the subject of Niklas Kvarforth.

He also comments: “I’ve known about Niklas and his music for a long time. His story interested me and I wanted to know more about him as a person. I did some research and we got in contact. I showed him my documentary trilogy ‘Blood and Spirit’ and he was interested in working with me. We got along from the start and he proved to be very cooperative. He was brutally honest, and never left any of my questions unanswered.”

Claudio Marino is known for his documentary “Blood and Spirit”, a trilogy about three different artists who live for their art, a tattoo artist, an mixed martial arts fighter, and a Satanist, who happened to be Erik Danielsson from WATAIN.

SHINING are embarking on their first headlining tour in the US today. Co-headlining will be label mates REVENGE. All currently confirmed dates including a performance at Germany’s With Foll Force Open Air can be viewed below.

Here is a status-update by the band, who have recently also been announced as support act for upcoming shows in Spain by Slayer: “Here comes the summer! And what a great one it seems…We will keep ourselves busy with some really killer stuff like opening for Slayer in Spain, Bang Your Head in Germany or Metaldays in Slovenia, and many others. Hope we could see you all there, would be great, but probably unrealistic, so we will make it easy for you and come up with our live album & DVD soon, so keep your eyes open for that too.
