UK’s heaviest metal festival, Bloodstock, returned to Catton Park during a heatwave, but that didn’t stop thousands of metal heads clad in primarily black clothing. The festival keeps getting bigger and better, initially starting as an indoor event, and now it’s an open-air event with a capacity of 20,000. 2022 was hot as hell, both in terms of the impressive line-up of big well-known acts to upcoming rising stars of metal and, of course, the scorching temperatures.
New Zealand global metal frontrunners ALIEN WEAPONRY have been touring around the world nonstop since the 2021 release of their acclaimed sophomore album, Tangaroa, out now via Napalm Records! Spreading vital messages of peace, awareness and warning through the power of their culturally-driven music, Tangaroa proves a massive next step for the band – encompassing all of the elements that make ALIEN WEAPONRY heavy metal’s most authentic rising stars.
Machine Head are back with their tenth album, ‘ØF KINGDØM AND CRØWN’, their first concept album loosely inspired by the Japanese anime series Attack On Titan. Set in a futuristic wasteland where the sky is always crimson red, the album tells you the tale of two characters who believe they are doing good. Still, both sides are committing atrocities, and as the story unfolds through the music, their paths become more heavily and dangerously tangled, which is reflected in the sound. This concept has fuelled some of their most devasting and innovative work.
Australian metal juggernauts PARKWAY DRIVE — Winston McCall (vocals), Luke Kilpatrick (guitar), Jeff Ling (guitar), Jia O’Connor (bass), and Ben Gordon (drums) — will drop their seventh album DARKER STILL on September 9 via Epitaph Records. Darker Still, their first full-length since 2018’s Reverence,can be pre-ordered here.
In celebration of their recent career-defining headline performance at Bloodstock Open Air 2022, Malevolence offers the world a sneak-peak into the festivities with a video of set highlight ‘Karma‘, featuring live special guest Will Ramos of Lorna Shore. Malevolence laid waste to the attending crowd during their biggest headline show to-date, in a packed-to-the-rafters tent inundated with frenzied crowd surfers.
GRAMMY Award-winning Iowan icons SLIPKNOT have shared the official music video for their new single “Yen” which is directed by the band’s own M. Shawn ‘clown’ Crahan – watch it HERE. “Yen” is the latest song to be release off SLIPKNOT’s widely anticipated new album, THE END, SO FAR, which will be released September 30th on Roadrunner Records (album art / track listing below).
