AVATAR – win fan voted “Breakthrough Artist” at Metal Hammer Golden God Awards

The citizens of AVATAR country have spoken: On Monday night AVATAR didn’t just play at the prestigious Metal Hammer Golden God Awards in London, but they also won the fan voted “Breakthrough Artist” award. Congratulations!

AVATAR recently released a relaunch of their latest album, “Feathers & Flesh”, and it’s available as 2CD Jewelcase as well as Digital Album. “Feathers & Flesh (In His Own Words)” is “Feathers & Flesh” with the matching (audio) book added as in between spoken words forming a double album.

Vocalist Johannes Eckerström on the concept of “Feathers & Flesh”: “It’s a fable about an owl who goes to war to stop the sun from rising. It’s a tragic story of someone ultimately being set up to fail. She will learn many lessons and encounter many other creatures with ideas of their own. In the end, however, one must ask if something was learned at all.”
So how did the circus freaks from AVATAR end up in a land of fairy tales and talking animals? The clown and the circus were born from the darkness in all of our minds. Their music opens the door within us that we otherwise would not find. What AVATAR has done has always been of a psychological nature. Thus that trademark sinister grin is the mirror none of us want to look in to. Now the clown has stepped out of our nightmares and sits down next to us as we lie in bed about to fall asleep. He brought a book and with the help of his little creatures he tells us a story about the duality of the human experience. The book was available for purchase alongside the album. “It was just too many words for a CD booklet,” the vocalist states, making AVATAR the first band of its kind releasing a physical book alongside the album. Now this very book was added to the relaunch of “Feathers & Flesh” as in between spoken words, forming the “Feathers & Flesh (In His Own Words)” 2CD.

You can either secure your copy of “Feathers & Flesh (In His Own Words)” at your favourite shop, mailorder or platform or just check the following link for options:http://smarturl.it/FeathersAndFleshIHOW

DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT – launch video for ‘Offer Your Light’; win award at Metal Hammer Golden Gods

Devin Townsend Project have been on the road touring for the majority of 2017 in support of latest album ‘Transcendence’, and recently began a run of Summer live dates including Download Festival this past weekend.

Yesterday Devin attended the Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony in London, where he was named ‘Riff Lord’, an award previously given to the likes of Dave Mustaine, Brian May and Phil Campbell. To celebrate, a brand new lyric video for the track ‘Offer Your Light’, taken from ‘Transcendence’, is available to see here:

Devin had this to say: “Hey all! Well heck, I guess I won an award for being a guitar guy…sweet! All those years of social ineptitude has manifested in an ability to play 32nd notes. Take that, dad! …to celebrate, we are doing a ‘lyric video’ for a track I had been encouraged to release when the album first came out, but decided to go with another one instead. As it turns out, people seem to really like this song, so have at ‘er! Here’s a kind of rockin, kind of straightforward track from Transcendence called ‘Offer Your Light’, written essentially about trying to look at the positive amidst the ever increasing sea of neurosis-inducing bullshit the world keeps spewing at us. I’m in the beginning stages of writing new music now, and I hope this finds a home in your listening world for the next 4 minutes or so…best part is; there’s no guitar solo! Lots of love, Devin ‘riff-lord’ Townsend (apparently!)”

Mongolian Folk Metal Group TENGGER CAVALRY Signs with M-Theory Audio to Release New Full-Length Album in June

TENGGER CAVALRY – the nomadic Mongolian folk metal group whose exotic sound has been praised by outlets ranging from Metal Hammer and Terrorizer to Billboard and CNN – has signed with M-Theory Audio. The band’s new album is expected to be released in June and will be supported by a five-week North American tour and performances at several European summer festivals. Further details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
M-Theory Audio is the new label recently launched by Marco Barbieri, former president of Century Media Records and Nuclear Blast America.
Barbieri says, TENGGER CAVALRY is one of the most unique new bands, and I’ve been impressed how Nature Ganganbaigal and the group developed themselves to this point independently. By teaming up with an old friend, Dawn Robinson, as management and now working with us at M-Theory Audio, I’m excited by the upward possibilities the future holds and the fun and breakthroughs possible with their themes and great music.”
TENGGER CAVALRY frontman Nature Ganganbaigal adds, “To work with Marco, who was an integral part of Century Media, and M-Theory Audio is TENGGER CAVALRY‘s greatest honor. We are excited to bring on our next ‘raid’ together with the mighty M-Theory!”
One of the most unique and innovative acts in modern music, TENGGER CAVALRY (“the army of the sky god” in Mongolian) blends the nomadic musical traditions, instrumentation and warrior spirit of Central Asia with the aggression and power of heavy metal. The group was founded by Nature Ganganbaigal, who sings using the ancient Mongolian tradition of Khoomei (more commonly known as throat-singing) and plays multiple native instruments, including the Morin Khuur (an ancient fiddle), the Tovshuur (a Mongolian guitar) and the Mongolian flute.
Following Ganganbaigal’s relocation to America four years ago, TENGGER CAVALRY has successfully completed two headlining tours and even sold out a performance at New York City’s prestigious Carnegie Hall.
In the studio, meanwhile, the group’s output has been prodigious – since forming in 2010, they’ve released four full-length albums, two EPs and numerous singles, including unique cover interpretations of metal classics. In January, Dave Mustaine retweeted the group’s cover of “Symphony of Destruction,” while the previous month, the official Motörhead Facebook page reposted their rendition of “Fight.” The band’s most recent original single, “A Blade of Time,” was issued in January; a video for the song can be seen at this location:
