UK’s heaviest metal festival, Bloodstock, is nearly upon us, taking place at Catton Park, Derbyshire, on 10th-13th August 2023. With a massive line-up consisting of Ronnie James Dio main stage headliners Killswitch Engage, Meshuggah and Megadeth, a whole load of other heavy hitters, and rising metal acts. Here are some bands we recommend you catch over the mighty packed weekend!
Wacken 2023 sold out as always, quicker than any metal festival worldwide, making it the biggest metal gathering to attend. The theme for this year is Vikings and their culture! Wardruna will play the festival for the first time, fitting the theme. Ex-Gorgoroth drummer Einar Selvik started the band. Their unique brand of Nordic folk was featured in the TV hit show Vikings, giving the whole genre a massive push. So many amazing acts will appear at the festival, but here are a select few!

The inaugural BORN DEAD MUSIC FESTIVAL (BORN DEAD FEST) will take place September 2-3, 2023 in Albany, NY across two stages at Empire Live and Empire Underground. Presented by unique tattoo streetwear & alternative streetwear clothing company Born Dead Clothing, BORN DEAD FEST will feature some of the most prolific names in extreme music, with 27+ bands slated to perform including HATEBREED, BLEEDING THROUGH, INTEGRITY and MADBALL.
August 11–12 All the performers of the Hellsinki Metal Festival organized at Nordis have now been announced, and Friday’s main performer was Helloween, one of the legends of power metal. The band, founded in 1982 in Hamburg, has steadily forged its career forward despite crew changes. As proof of this, the gentlemen have already accumulated 14 gold and 6 platinum records. The band was also named to the Metal Hall Of Fame this year.
he metal folk celebrated Midsummer in great atmosphere at Nummirock. The festival, which ends with Behemoth’s concert tonight, gathered a total of more than 18,000 visitors to Nummijärvi in Kauhajoki, about a couple of thousand more than the previous year. The event has been celebrated in a joyfully boisterous atmosphere, there have been no serious disturbances, and the spirit of Nummirock has been present both in the event area and in the legendary camp, where the first midsummer celebrants settled down as usual to feel the atmosphere more than a week before the actual Nummirock began.
