PURSON FINAL LIVE SHOW + FAREWELL SINGLE

PURSON LONDON SHOW IN DECEMBER 2016 CONFIRMED AS FINAL LIVE FLOURISH FOR COLOURFUL UK ROCKERS

‘FAREWELL’ SINGLE SET FOR RELEASE VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS AS SONG-WRITER / SINGER / GUITARIST ROSALIE CUNNINGHAM PLANS NEXT MUSICAL MOVE…

 PURSON is officially no more…

After a career spanning five years, 2 studio albums, one EP, a number of singles and videos, plus live shows and festivals in both Europe and America, including a full US run guesting with Ghost, the acclaimed, award-winning, ever-flamboyant UK outfit have decided to call a halt to proceedings.

Says singer / guitarist Rosalie Cunningham, the creative force behind the project, providing the songs and the vision, and playing most of the instruments in the studio…

“The past five years have been an unforgettable whirlwind, for which I have to thank our wonderful fans around the world, the band and all the people who have contributed to Purson’s success over the years. Their support has been overwhelming, but the Purson framework has gone as far as it could go, and now it’s simply time to move on. I feel strongly drawn to a more DIY approach to my career in music, and look forward to the freedom to explore many avenues as a solo artist.”

As a way of going out with a (glam rock) bang, Spinefarm Records have  issued a farewell Purson single.

Titled ‘Chocolate Money’ and produced & mixed by Cunningham and John Mitchell (Steven Wilson, It Bites, etc.), the song features guest contributions from Jon Seagroatt (Comus) on saxophone and Vodun front-woman Chantelle Brown on backing vocals; featuring wickedly tongue in cheek lyrics taking in “cocoa casanova”, “raison d’etre cake” and more, it joyfully celebrates an era when bands like Slade & Wizard ruled the charts, Top Of The Pops was essential viewing and vinyl was king…

“‘Chocolate Money’ is a snapshot of the ostentatious decadence of the ’70s. The mythical rock star character with his double-entendre and self-centred hedonism. The industry has become a very different world since then, which is something I will expand on lyrically with my next album. It has inspired my desire to go back to basics and remember what music is supposed to be about.”

Listen to ‘Chocolate Money

‘Chocolate Money’ is a new recording and does not feature on the most recent Purson album, ‘Desire’s Magic Theatre’, released via Spinefarm Records in 2016. ‘D.M.T’ – inspired by the rock operas of the late sixties and early seventies – was issued to considerable acclaim from fans and critics alike, spawning the ‘Electric Landlady’ and ‘The Window Cleaner’ singles / videos, and touching on a variety of realms, including folk, prog, psychedelic, gothic & classic rock.

Cunningham described the album as: “A technicolour variety show, a playful display of the musical whims only briefly hinted at in our previous work; a psychedelic rock opera dedicated to our good friends Sarge Pepper and Zig Stardust.”

SHIBALBA (Acherontas) stream new song “Aether Ananda Aiwass”

The secretive Greek/Swedish collective of SHIBALBA, has shared another new taste of their upcoming work of meditative dark art, featuring traces of ritual, ambient, trance and shamanic  music. The song  “Aether Ananda Aiwass” comes from the “Psychostasis – Death Of Khat” album, set to be released on April 30th via Agonia Records. Listen to the song here:

SHIBALBA is Acherontas V.Priest (Acherontas), Karl NE/Nachzehrer (Nåstrond) and Aldra-Al-Melekh. Their music is saturated with the mysticism of the East. It’s richly detailed and multidimensional, while layered with chanting and broadly defined elements of traditional ritual and shamanic music. Apart from contemporary synths and guitar drones, the band makes use of bones and skulls as percussion instruments, Tibetan horns, Tibetan singing bowls, bone & horne trumpets, darbuka’s (goblet drums) as well as ceremonial bells and gongs. The band’s intention, in their own words, is to “guide the subconsious of the individual to dream beyond the skin of matter & to dream in ecstasy and exult”.

“Psychostasis – Death Of Khat” was recorded by the band themselves in Greece and Sweden, in a manner in which sound vibrations have been registered in a form analogous to the way in which the human ear perceives sound. High standards were provided especially for the vinyl edition of the album.

American Standards Release Chaotic New Single and Video For “Carpe Diem, Tomorrow”, Announce Tour Dates

Phoenix hardcore outfit American Standards, has release their second music video single “Carpe Diem, Tomorrow“, which comes off their upcoming record “Anti-Melody“. In this claustrophobically dark video filmed by Jacob Reynolds (Dead Rabbits, Escape The Fate, The New Low), silhouettes of the band thrash amidst seizure-like inducing lights, capturing the passion and intensity of the song.

Vocalist Brandon Kellum commented on the video saying, “We all know the person that’s been at their job for 10 years and complains every day about it, someone who’s planed on going back to school or wants to travel but always makes excuses on why they don’t. “Carpe Diem, Tomorrow” is about getting out of your comfort zone. Being open to new experiences and ways of thinking. Moving is living. You’re not getting any younger and there will never be a “right time” so do something that scares the hell out of you every day of your life.”

Anti-Melody” comes out April 28th and is available for preorder on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp. Watch “Carpe, Diem, Tomorrow” below.

Along with the new music video, American Standards has announced “The Anti-Melody Tour” in support of the new album. The 10 day tour begins May 19th in Albuquerque, NM and will end in Reno, NV on May 28th. The band is known for its powerful live performance so make sure to check the dates below for a city near you.

LIFE OF AGONY Premiere Official Video For “World Gone Mad”

After 12 long years, Brooklyn hard rock legends LIFE OF AGONY are finally back with their brand new album A Place Where There’s No More Pain, which is set to be released April 28th via Napalm Records. So far, 2 songs from the album have been released to the public, the title track ‘A Place Where There’s No More Pain‘, as well as the band’s just recently premiered single for ‘World Gone Mad‘. Now LIFE OF AGONY, back in their famous and original River Runs Red- line up fronted by the one & only Mina Caputo, unleash the official, and hell of a scary, video for ‘World Gone Mad‘!

“The message behind ‘World Gone Mad’ could not be more relevant to what’s going on all over this planet right now. People are more divided than ever, and if we continue to ignore the fact that this world is busting at its seams and just continue to “stick our heads underground,” like the lyrics suggest, we will see a madness in our lifetime like we’ve never experienced before,” explained bassist Alan Robert just recently. He continues: “With the ‘World Gone Mad’ video, we were really looking to break out of the typical performance video approach to capture a high concept visual. There is clearly a strong homage to horror movies such as Hellraiser and The Ring, and U.K. director Leigh Brooks of Firebelly Films went above and beyond to bring our ideas to life. It’s definitely the darkest and scariest looking video we’ve done to date.”
