Festival co-founder Jesse Valstar comments:
“The team members of West Metal Entertainment poured their sweat and blood into making this year’s line up for Armstrong Metalfest the best year yet! A large portion of this year’s line up consists of bands who will be releasing albums in 2017. The fact that so many bands in Canada are able to write and record quality material is a real testament to the thriving metal scene we have. The band submission process is a grueling gauntlet of awesomeness, but personally I love every second I dedicate to the brilliant artists of Canadian Metal!
I am especially excited to have Revocation on this year’s edition of Armstrong Metalfest. Their style is hella fitting for the festival and I know they will be well received! Also, their album “Great Is Our Sin” is fantastic front to back. I’ll be front row center screaming my heart out for sure!
I am very proud of the work our team has put into year nine of Armstrong Metalfest. Our work is paying off, so far this year we have broken every record for ticket sales we have ever had. As a community we built this festival from the ground up. As the festival grows, so does our community. We are all proud of this big beautiful beast!”

Toronto’s SLUDGEHAMMER have unleashed their new video for ‘Demons From The Woodwork’, one of 11 tracks on their debut album ‘The Fallen Sun’ released during June of last year. The video is a band playthrough demonstrating their mind bending guitar solos, devastating heavy riffs, blistering drum fury and dynamic vocal performances from lead vocalist Chris Szarota plus bassist Dan Ayers.
Their latest album ‘The Fallen Sun’ is the follow up their 2014 EP ‘Organ Harvester’ and was self-produced by the band plus mixed by guitarist Tyler Williams along with mastering done by world renowned producer & engineer Lasse Lammert (Gloryhammer, Alestorm, Teramaze) at LSD Studio in Germany.
Florida based Metal band World Gone has released the Official Music Video for their single, “Feed The Machine.” Self-directed and produced, “Feed The Machine” was shot in a Florida bunker.
“Feed the Machine” is a story of human enslavement and the struggle to find a way to finally be free. Afraid of death, future loss, injury, and imprisonment, the majority of humans have become easily controlled and dominated by the powerful few. The greatest resource in history has not been gold or oil, it has been the extortion of other humans. You can’t get a hen to lay more eggs by threatening it but you can get a human to give you his eggs by threatening him. Human fear farming has been the most lucrative trade of all time and even now continues to feed the evil plans for domination of the universe by the bloated, power mad, and greedy Human Coercion Machine. – World Gone
The new Nocte Obducta album “Totholz (Ein Raunen aus dem Klammwald)”, which already available on the band’s live shows, will be officially released on May 26th. The successor to last year’s “Mogontiacum (Nachdem die Nacht herabgesunken …)” features 7 songs with a playing time of 42 minutes and will be available on a limited vinyl edition.
“Totholz (Ein Raunen aus dem Klammwald)” sets itself as a logic continuation from the work done on the band’s previous effort, “Mogontiacum”. Here, Nocte Obducta close the circle to their musical roots and deliver a rough piece of metal with the band’s typic harmonies. Above you can find the atmosperic cover art in anticipation of the album.
wedish post-rock/sludge/doom/hardcore wizards with electronic vibes, THE MOTH GATHERER, are premiering their new EP “The Comfortable Low” exclusively via Invisible Oranges, prior to its March 31st release on Agonia Records. The two-track EP includes a guest appearance from Dennis Lyxzén (of Refused fame) and Fred Burman (Satan Takes A Holiday). Listen to the band’s first new material since “The Earth Is The Sky” album here:
Sound-wise, the EP is a nod towards the band’s debut album, “A Bright Celestial Light” (2013), and a wink towards their hardcore and electronic side.
THE MOTH GATHERER commented: “After ‘The Earth Is The Sky’ (2015) we felt like we needed to push our limits while not forgetting our roots. Our roots in hardcore and our current interest in electronica made their mark on these two songs, a constant travel through harsh and beautiful soundscapes. The music and lyrics are supposed to feel like painful beauty and to provoke reflection. The themes revolve around an inner search, a way to rise while being pushed down by depression”.
The new material was once again recorded with Karl Daniel Lidén behind the console and clothed with artwork prepared by SCG. “They both feel like an integral part of the The Moth Gatherer” – concluded the band.
