HIGH WIRE Releases New EP “DIFFERENT PLACES”

CHICAGO, IL | SEPTEMBER 8TH 2017 – Chicago pop punk band High Wire embrace a new era with the release of their new EP “Different Places.” The EP quickly garnered attention from sites such as Alternative Press and idobi with the high energy track, “Something In The Way,” which was released as an immediate download incentive exclusively through preorders. To coincide with the release, their EP release show will take place this Sunday, 9/10, in Chicago, as well as opening for Goldfinger on 9/11, presented by Riot Fest. The EP, produced by Seth Henderson (Real Friends, Knuckle Puck), is a powerful representation of personal growth and coming of age. With the creation of “Different Places”, High Wire pushed themselves to their creative limit both musically and lyrically, the EP is very much a step in a new direction for the band with a handful of new songs, but still retains a familiar sound that fans have grown to love since their debut. About the EP, the band states:

““Different Places” is a collection of songs that tell a story of personal change and self growth. It’s the journey from who you were, through the irrevocable changes in relationships, to where you are and want to be in the future. From the band’s evolving sound to the literal journey of the band members crossing state and international borders, “Different Places” is the representation of where you started, and where you are going.”

Every coming of age story starts somewhere. For Chicago, IL quartet High Wire, the story started in different places. Since their inception in 2012, the band has made a name for themselves in a thriving Chicago punk scene establishing a dedicated fan base and sharing stages with the likes of Real Friends, Sleep On It, Knockout Kid and more. Different Places, produced by Seth Henderson (Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, Sleep On It)  is a collection of songs that tell a story of personal changes and growth. It’s the journey from who you were, molded by the irrevocable changes in relationships to where you are presently, and who you aspire to be in the future. The EP is a representation both literally and physically for the band and embodies where High Wire started, where the band is presently and where they’re headed in the future. “Different Places” is available NOW.

Guitarist Ian McConnell says, “‘Sheepdog’ was a random working title that wouldn’t go away for whatever reason, so we stuck with it. In retrospect, it’s meaning, “a protector”, has a lot to do with the vibe of the song and record as a whole so maybe it was a subconscious thing all along.”
