Replacire premiere new album in full

REPLACIRE are now streaming their complete forthcoming album ‘Do Not Deviate’, which has been slated for release on March 17th.

REPLACIRE comment: “Every note on this record was scrutinized for intent and purpose. This resulted in shorter, heavier songs, but they still retain the density that fans of extreme music can appreciate over multiple listens. We would devote entire weeks to writing and arranging. Some songs came together after a couple hours, others took days on end before they were completed. Several tracks never made it to the record despite multiple re-writes. We ended up with an intense record; a weird, cerebral, and crushing metal album that people will hopefully latch onto.

Artwork and track-list of ‘Do Not Deviate’ can both be viewed below.

REPLACIRE by Tom Couture

‘Do Not Deviate’ is a vicious beast. Relentlessly attacking and pushing forward. Yet REPLACIRE combine aggression with technical intricacy and lace their harsh death metal not only with the usual genre elements such as cascading syncopated breaks, odd-time signatures, and jazzy moments, but also inject a clever elegance, which is quite reminiscent of Chuck Schuldiner’s DEATH under the influence of CYNIC. The band’s obvious technical prowess is harnessed by the needs of good songwriting as opposed to self-indulgent musical masturbation.

REPLACIRE is the brainchild of guitarist Eric Alper, who founded the band in 2010. The American tech metal prodigies hailing from Boston, Massachusetts self-released their debut full-length ‘The Human Burden’ in 2012. The album’s unique and wide-ranging material was an ambitious statement of intent that quickly established the New Englanders as a must-follow heavy act in their corner of the US. REPLACIRE quickly went on to push the boundaries by touring extensively throughout the Northeast and supporting such heavyweights as BEYOND CREATION, HATE ETERNAL, MISERY INDEX, and ARTIFICIAL BRAIN among others.

Now, REPLACIRE are ready to take on the word with their sophomore full-length. It is easy to predict that ‘Do Not Deviate’ will be an early milestone for technical metal in 2017 and bound to end up on many best of lists of that year. You don’t want to take our word for it? Well, just give it a spin and listen carefully.

AZARATH stream second new song from upcoming album “In Extremis”

AZARATH stream second new song from upcoming album “In Extremis”

Poland’s death/black metal masters AZARATH have revealed a second new song in anticipation of their upcoming album “In Extremis”, due out April 7th via Agonia Records. Listen to the track “Annihilation (Smite All the Illusions) at this link:

Earlier the band premiered the song  “At The Gates Of Understanding” in the form of a lyric video, accessible here: https://youtu.be/PkOqzLUXPAU

Touted as a “demonic mutation of Krisiun and Behemoth with shades of Immolation”, AZARATH stand up to their wicked name. The band’s death metal is crisp, black, and while it possesses the charm of their American counterparts, it remains open-minded and organic. This should not come as a surprise, considering the AZARATH‘s impressive line-up and cemented position as one the the best Polish acts of the genre. The band was formed in 1998 by drummer Inferno (of  Behemoth fame). He’s accompanied by Bart (Armagedon, Damnation) on guitars, Necrosodom (Anima Damnata, Deus Mortem, ex-Infernal War) on vocals and guitars, as well as Peter (ex-Lost Soul) on bass.

Meaning “at the point of death” or “under extreme circumstances” in Latin, “In Extremis” is yet another apex reached by AZARATH. Offering a vehement ride through the netherworlds, the effort places the band back at the fore of the genre, with strong ties to the group’s early cult albums. The eerie painting that adorns the album’s cover was made by Marta Promińska (Hypnagogic Painting).

Death/Doom Metal Duo MONTFAUCON Stream Entire New Album “Renaissance”

Mixed & Mastered by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Katatonia)

Tomorrow, MONTFAUCON – the medieval era-inspired doom/death metal concept project from Uzbekistani duo Valentin Mayamsin and Michel Cadenzar – will release their six-track album, Renaissance. The album can be ordered now via Bandcamp

Valentin Mayamsin states, “These tracks on Renaissance are restless ghosts of unreleased songs have been haunting us for many years. Now it’s time to release them and turn a new page in the history of MONTFAUCON! We’ve been waiting to release this record for many years. It’s been quite a journey, and we never thought the path would be so long and windy. We were able to overcome many barriers and are grateful for the support of friends and fans all over the globe. We put a lot of effort and thought into this piece of art. We hope you enjoy the album as much as we do!”
MONTFAUCON resonates with historic tales of violence and upheaval, exploring the implications and consequences of emotional turmoil, aggression and fear. Renaissance – which features mixing and mastering from death metal veteran Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Katatonia) – is a majestic, eclectic and musically diverse portrait of darkness, desperation and barbarism that presents a new perspective on the ever-shifting landscape of extreme metal.
unnamed (90).jpg

Renaissance track listing:
1. Prisoner
2. I Was A Warrior
3. Alone
4. Mastermind
5. Insanity
6. The Last Night

MONTFAUCON achieves a sound that’s at once brutal and beautiful, alternately direct and dizzying. Renaissance draws from black metal, progressive doom and symphonic metal influences, accented by Michel’s complex, haunting piano melodies. From one song to the next, there are hints of well-known acts such as Satyricon, Darkthone, Cradle of Filth, Death, Opeth and Pink Floyd, as well as traces of more obscure artists, including Lux Occulta, Dominion and My Dying Bride.

It’s incredible that Valentin and Michel have crafted such diverse, high-impact and intensely melodic songs from opposite parts of the world (Valentin resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, while Michel continues to reside in their native Uzbekestan). What’s even more impressive is that as forward-thinking as the songs on Renaissance are, the skeletons were written years ago, and early versions of some of the tracks were played on metal radio in Uzbekistan, and were well received by the region’s loyal underground scene.

When it was time for Valentin to start putting Renaissance together back in his home studio in San Francisco, he struggled at first to find the right gear and learn how to use it. Since he didn’t have much experience with home recording, he experienced several setbacks. To make sure the songs sounded as good on the digital files as they did when he played them in his living room, Valentin hired The Faceless guitarist Michael Keene to help him assemble a rig that would yield a high quality recording.

For metal fans who are excited to hear more, MONTFAUCON are already working on five or six new death/prog songs that will leave listeners speechless. Until then, Renaissance should be inspiring and enthralling enough to keep listeners completely satisfied.

Trawling through the freezing swamps and slicing his legs open on poisonous shrubbery, Piton realised he was about to die. Hungry parasites were suckling upon his organs and mosquitos the size of his fist were devouring his blood until no quantity of food or water could sustain his survival. For a whole he could no longer remember why he had embarked on this mission in the first place, but as his bones withered into twigs, none of these things mattered anymore. He was so lost and worn that his knees began to betray him, and he fell into the muddy ground, disinterested in the life he once treasured so preciously, ready to surrender his person into death. But what he didn’t know, was that he was being watched.

An external force by the name of Hypno-frog had been keeping an eye on Piton for quite some time now, admiring the man’s ambition whilst waiting for the perfect moment to introduce himself. That moment came when Piton stumbled a few feet away from a dusty cabin, and crawled inside to find warmth and shelter from the elements. There, Hypno-frog revealed himself to Piton, complementing the boy on making it this far and then delivering a proposition. He handed Piton a guitar and requested that the two of them lived together in that very cabin without speaking, giving up their voices to communicate only via the means of music, the epitome of expression. Piton eagerly agreed, happy to abandon the cold in favour of his bloody fingers using strings to represent the soul he had trapped inside for so long. And for a while, life was good again, the translation of spirit into an extrinsic audio force building health to both parties, each finding a mutual love (and hate) in the technical aggression of metal structures and cosmic atmospheres.

However, all things must pass, and eventually Hypno-frog instructed Piton to step back and witness what he had created. For before them was a full length album, written and arranged, almost fleshy enough to be released beyond the constraints of the cabin. At first, Piton was confused as he did not know how to approach this discharge, but once again it was Hypno-frog who offered a solution. He suggested they should build a small army, one which could help sharpen these sounds into a more direct spike in order to pierce virgin ears with more precision. Piton not only understood the benefit of such an idea, but also knew exactly the right soldiers to do it. Enter Aal, a beast who explored bass frets like he was reading brail. Piton knew all too well that these passionate creatures were each born with their own unique sets of powerful skills, as together they had fought many wars in the past, formulating a chemistry they had named YGODEH, a separate audio project created from a consistency so potent that any sorcerer would shudder at the smell. They were already a team, and as soon as they assembled, they knew they were almost ready to charge into battle. Except they were missing one crucial piece to complete the message. They needed a voice.

After a tiresome search, they stumbled upon an abandoned child by the name of Jared. Depressed and confused, this boy was known to shout at the heavens in great anger, with no place to focus his elaborate tales of the earthly horrors he had witnessed. Recognising his dire need for adoption, the group presented Jared to Hypno-frog, and received his blessing, just like the scripture had foretold all those centuries ago. And with that, Sectlinefor was conceived like a baby in the womb, ready to be cut out and dismembered, a small piece for every person in the world.

Every fairytale needs a hero, and every fairy tale needs a villain. And at this early hour in our story, not even SECTLINEFOR know which side they are fighting for.
To be continued.
