Carach Angren reveal first new track and details of forthcoming album

The Dutch masters of horror are back with their most flamboyant album so far. On ‘Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten’, CARACH ANGREN are painting musical pictures that easily combine the grandiose depth of a Rembrandt with Van Gogh’s maelstrom of whirling colours and the utter madness of Bosch. This lusciously seductive danse macabre will drag you in and never let go.

CARACH ANGREN are now unveiling the first stunning track of their forthcoming new album. The Dutch masters of horror metal have entitled their new haunting ‘Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten’ and the release date has been slated for June 16th.

CARACH ANGREN comment: “After months of hard work we proudly reopen the doors to our haunted mansion to reveal the first deadly taste of our upcoming concept album. A unique horror story as you all expect and deserve from us, we consider this as one of the most terrifying tracks that we have created so far.”

CARACH ANGREN are furthermore revealing the cover art by renowned Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu and track-list of ‘Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten’, which can both be viewed below.

With ‘Dance and Laugh amongst the Rotten’, CARACH ANGREN are returning to “pure” storytelling with episodes that are centered on a girl playing a little too long with her Ouija board. The Dutch have pushed their unashamedly theatric style to a new intense height. You do not believe us yet? Press play and unleash these radiant ghosts into your home…

Replacire premiere new album in full

REPLACIRE are now streaming their complete forthcoming album ‘Do Not Deviate’, which has been slated for release on March 17th.

REPLACIRE comment: “Every note on this record was scrutinized for intent and purpose. This resulted in shorter, heavier songs, but they still retain the density that fans of extreme music can appreciate over multiple listens. We would devote entire weeks to writing and arranging. Some songs came together after a couple hours, others took days on end before they were completed. Several tracks never made it to the record despite multiple re-writes. We ended up with an intense record; a weird, cerebral, and crushing metal album that people will hopefully latch onto.

Artwork and track-list of ‘Do Not Deviate’ can both be viewed below.

REPLACIRE by Tom Couture

‘Do Not Deviate’ is a vicious beast. Relentlessly attacking and pushing forward. Yet REPLACIRE combine aggression with technical intricacy and lace their harsh death metal not only with the usual genre elements such as cascading syncopated breaks, odd-time signatures, and jazzy moments, but also inject a clever elegance, which is quite reminiscent of Chuck Schuldiner’s DEATH under the influence of CYNIC. The band’s obvious technical prowess is harnessed by the needs of good songwriting as opposed to self-indulgent musical masturbation.

REPLACIRE is the brainchild of guitarist Eric Alper, who founded the band in 2010. The American tech metal prodigies hailing from Boston, Massachusetts self-released their debut full-length ‘The Human Burden’ in 2012. The album’s unique and wide-ranging material was an ambitious statement of intent that quickly established the New Englanders as a must-follow heavy act in their corner of the US. REPLACIRE quickly went on to push the boundaries by touring extensively throughout the Northeast and supporting such heavyweights as BEYOND CREATION, HATE ETERNAL, MISERY INDEX, and ARTIFICIAL BRAIN among others.

Now, REPLACIRE are ready to take on the word with their sophomore full-length. It is easy to predict that ‘Do Not Deviate’ will be an early milestone for technical metal in 2017 and bound to end up on many best of lists of that year. You don’t want to take our word for it? Well, just give it a spin and listen carefully.

The song “Of the Key and Crossed Bones” is now streaming on the Season of Mist YouTube and free for sharing.

Ar-Ra’d al-Iblis states on behalf of NIGHTBRINGER: “The lyrics work as a hymn to the goddess Hecate as she is depicted in the Chaldean oracles, a series of mystical revelations most probably dating from the 2nd century AD. Here, She is understood as the psychopomp and gatekeeper that leads the soul through the perilous passages of the otherworld, unto the light of the Father, identified as the divine Sun.”

NIGHTBRINGER have previously revealed the new artwork and the track-list of ‘Terra Damnata’, which can both be viewed below.

MERRIMACK premiere first song and reveal details of new album

MERRIMACK are now revealing the first sinister song taken from their forthcoming fifth full-length, which bears the title ‘Omegaphilia’ and will be released on June 9th.

The pitch-black track “Apophatic Weaponry”

MERRIMACK comment: “For this song, as on the whole album, we wanted to come back to something more rooted in the 90’s. With a less complex structure, and a sound not as modern and claustrophobic as on our latest albums, ‘Apophatic Weaponry’ still has our characteristic moody atmosphere with some crawling mid-tempos riffs. This is especially noticeable on the second half of the track. Our lyrics are dealing with the special connection between beings and their faith, even though it is constructed on a void trying to fill in another vacant space of nothingness. The divine cannot be observed, demonstrated, except by its consequences. In the end, this is the definition of faith as opposed to reason. This concept of negative theology is a mystical approach towards the divine that attempts to describe it through the impossibility of describing it. Eckhart. Jacob Böhme and most of the German mystics tried to increase their faith with such notions.”

MERRIMACK are furthermore unveiling the cover art by Dehn Sora and track-list of ‘Omegaphilia’, which can both be viewed below.

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT officially welcome bass player Nico Ziska as their newest member to the band.

Vocalist Nikita Kamprad comments: “We welcome our good friend and former part-time merch guy Nico as the new bassist of DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT! He has been around for many years now and after temporarily being reduced to a three-piece on stage, we felt it was about time to fill the vacant position. Our first joint rehearsals went well beyond expectations and now we can hardly wait to hit the stage with our new full line-up again. Our forthcoming album is being scheduled for release at this very moment and new shows and festivals are being booked. Get ready for our return!

At this point again we want to thank our former bassist Giuliano for his dedication and input over the past years. He won’t be forgotten. Giuliano even left some traces on our next album as you will find out in time!”

Nico comments on his joining of the band: “After having known these guys for some years now and being into their music since the first album it is a huge honour for me to join the band as their new bassist. Black metal remains a musical chimera. From its fiery beginnings this extreme style proved to be as diverse as productive. German sons of this northern spawned darkness often display a penchant for bold aggression and directness as embodied by ENDSTILLE and NEGATOR. These virtues are also embraced byDER WEG EINER FREIHEIT. Yet the Franconians do not simply follow heavily trodden paths. Adding fragile moments of psychedelic meandering, these Germans have also been compared with WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM or DEAFHEAVEN. An extra dose of melancholy points towards their named influence IMPERIUM DEKADENZ and there are far more details to be discovered within the many layers of their harsh but strongly melodic new masterpiece ‘Stellar’. Founded in 2009 by guitarist Nikita Kamprad and vocalist Tobias Jaschinsky, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT immediately gained attention in Germany with their self released debut ‘Der Weg einer Freiheit’ (2009). Limited to 200 copies the full-length quickly sold out and a new and improved version with real drumming was officially published in 2010. Following the EP ‘Agonie’ (2011), their sophomore album ‘Unstille’ (2012) created a strong buzz beyond German borders despite all lyrics being written in their native tongue. Having performed along such diverse acts as WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, NEAERA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, and WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH prestigious festivals such as Summer Breeze Open Air and Wolfszeit Festival invited the band. In 2014 DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT impressed a Norwegian audience at Blastfest in Bergen to the point that they received immediate offers for further shows. In the meantime main songwriter Nikita Kamprad had taken over vocal duties after co-founding member Tobias had quit. In late autumn, the Germans entered Ghost City Recording studios to work on their third full-length ‘Stellar’, which is now ready to hit the world with irresistible force. Get ready and brace for a massive black impact!
