Glittertind create headlines in national newspapers in Norway

unnamed (63)

Norwegian folk-rockers have created headlines in national newspapers in Norway during a national controversy of whether or not to celebrate the 500 years of passing since the Reformation.

Glittertind started out as a folk-metal act with a record deal and two albums on Karmageddon Media (ex- Hammerheart records) and later one album on the Austrian metal label Napalm Records. In recent years the band has created records that are better labeled as folk-rock with a diverse range of elements from classical music to metal.

Their new album Himmelfall (‘Heaven Fall’) was released October 27th in Norway and commemorates the 500 years that has passed since the Reformation, and Protestantism was forced upon their homeland. The band created headlines in national newspapers during controversy over whether or not to celebrate that 500 years ago Martin Luther started his rebellion against the Church in Rome.

Beware the space carrots – Rylos released their second album

Up and coming rock-act Rylos has released it’s much anticipated second album called ‘Planet’. The album is a follow-up to their debut ‘Game Theory’ which was released last year. A lot has happened over the past year: numerous gigs, changes in line-up, Game Theory´s release in China etc. However probably the biggest event was when young super-talented drummer Misca Muhli, who has been blind all his life, joined the band. Misca is a very good example of what you can achieve when you firmly believe in your dreams and are ready to do some real hard work.

Some days it fills us with morbid anxiety and existential dread. Nevertheless, we will hit that road and play you our music hoping that you like it or otherwise formulating psychological defences against your hypothetical disapproval.”

While their first 2 albums were released by New Heavy SoundsBlack Moth will have their latest / third studio album issued worldwide via Candlelight Records on February 23rd 2018, the result of an alliance between Candlelight and NHS.

Melbourne band The Cherry Dolls release full-length debut album ‘Viva Los Dolls’ on Golden Robot Records.

Raw dog dirty realness as Rock ‘n’ Roll should be! I would describe this band as heavily influenced by The Stooges, MC5, Johnny Thunders or New York Dolls, of course there are many bands out there with similar influences, The Cherry Dolls are a band who gets it right. I love the sort of country and western meets old school punk track …….. but I really dig the whole album! I suspect these catz would be really awesome live!”
