Shining release video teaser for Art House documentary feat. Niklas Kvarforth

SHINING have released a video teaser for an arthouse documentary feat. Niklas Kvarforth, entitled “Cold Void”. The notorious founder of the Swedish black metal act is the focal point of a new movie. The documentary tries to capture a personal portrait of Niklas Kvarforth, who has made headlines that have involved addiction, suicide and self-destruction, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, passion, and exceptional musicianship. The project was undertaken by arthouse producer Claudio Marino and his film production company Artax Film. The teaser clip can be viewed at and shared from the YouTube link below.

Claudio Marino states that “Cold Void” is a film for anyone interested in life stories, and was not made with the intention of pandering to SHINING‘s fans. It is very much a personal journey, bringing a much-needed clarity and lack of sensationalism to the subject of Niklas Kvarforth.

He also comments: “I’ve known about Niklas and his music for a long time. His story interested me and I wanted to know more about him as a person. I did some research and we got in contact. I showed him my documentary trilogy ‘Blood and Spirit’ and he was interested in working with me. We  got along from the start and he proved  to be very cooperative. He was brutally honest,  and never left  any of my questions unanswered.”

Claudio Marino is known for his documentary “Blood and Spirit”, a trilogy about three different artists who live for their art, a tattoo artist, an mixed martial arts fighter, and a Satanist, who happened to be Erik Danielsson from WATAIN.

SHINING are embarking on their first headlining tour in the US today. Co-headlining will be label mates REVENGE. All currently confirmed dates including a performance at Germany’s With Foll Force Open Air can be viewed below.

After a relentless touring campaign for their latest and much acclaimed 5th album, “Hidden Evolution”, Spanish Thrash Metallers ANGELUS APATRIDA will be facing yet another busy summer of live-activities, but will also continue working on new material for their next release.

Here is a status-update by the band, who have recently also been announced as support act for upcoming shows in Spain by Slayer: “Here comes the summer! And what a great one it seems…We will keep ourselves busy with some really killer stuff like opening for Slayer in Spain, Bang Your Head in Germany or Metaldays in Slovenia, and many others. Hope we could see you all there, would be great, but probably unrealistic, so we will make it easy for you and come up with our live album & DVD soon, so keep your eyes open for that too. No better way to discharge batteries before getting ourselves ready to enter the studio to record a new album and get loaded again!”

ANGELUS APATRIDA’s latest album, “Hidden Evolution”, entered the national sales charts in the band’s home of Spain on an amazing # 2 (!) spot. The album’s artwork was handled by Gyula Havancsák / Hjules.com (Annihilator, Destruction, Stratovarius, etc.). “Hidden Evolution” was once again recorded in Moita, Portugal at Ultrasound Studio with producer Daniel Cardoso (Anneke Van Giersbergen, Anathema, etc.) and features a lead-guitar guest-appearance by Chris Amott (Armageddon, ex Arch Enemy) on the song “Speed Of Light”.

“Kingslayer is a song about Jaime Lannister’s betrayal of his oath, which earned him that very nickname across the Seven Kingdoms. The Mad King was ready to blow up all of Kings Landing with stocks of wildfire hidden under the streets, rather than face defeat to Robert’s rebellion. Having already seen enough atrocities committed by the king, Jaime could not stand by any longer with the lives of the entire city at stake. He murdered the Mad King, the one his life was sworn to protect. Instead of becoming a hero, this betrayal would be how history remembered Jaime Lannister.”

LACUNA COIL – re-sign with Century Media Records, embark on more extensive touring worldwide

While Italian Metal icons LACUNA COIL are celebrating their 20 year anniversary it is time to open another chapter in the relationship between the band and their long-term label: LACUNA COIL have just signed a new deal with Century Media Records.

Antje Lange, General Manager International of Century Media Records: “Century Media Records is very happy that LACUNA COIL have renewed their contract with us and we are very much looking forward to the next albums of this exceptional Italian band. NECROPHAGIA have announced a European tour in support of legendary MORBID ANGEL fronter David Vincent’s I AM MORBID and joined by Californian heathens HELSOTT. The American cult death metal pioneers will embark on their hellish road-trip at the Rudeboy in Bielsko-Biala, Poland on May 29th and continue to celebrate their horror shows throughout seven more countries before a final curtain at the Hellraiser in Leipzig, Germany on the 11th of June.
