The brainiacs at TWO MINUTES TO LATE NIGHT convinced a bunch of metal musicians to turn Steely Dan’s 1972 classic “Reelin’ In The Years” into a mosh legend featuring members of High On Fire, Spirit Adrift, Mutoid Man, Witch Taint, etc.
Composed by Jordan Olds (aka Gwarsenio Hall), mixed by Brian Baptiste and edited by Drew Kaufman, the cover is everything you would expect from all these cool cats and kittens, all from the comfort of their bedrooms.
“This is might be the strangest cover we’ve done? I know a bunch of folks on the team actually didn’t think it was gonna work,” says host and co-creator Jordan Olds. “Turning an easy-listening song that dads listen on boats into a 2003 mosh anthem seems impossible, but god dammit we did it.
“This new bedroom series is about having as much fun as possible and giving musicians a platform to perform without pressure or feeling like they are forcing a live show of theirs to be something it isn’t.”
Earlier this year, The World’s Only Heavy Metal Talk Show™ launched a new project called The Bedroom Sessions with the idea that various musicians would record and film their own parts to a cover song, composed by show host Gwarsenio Hall (Jordan Olds), with co-creator Drew Kaufman editing everything together. No one could have anticipated the current pandemic we are facing, but our musical heroes are here to the rescue.
