MERRIMACK premiere first song and reveal details of new album

MERRIMACK are now revealing the first sinister song taken from their forthcoming fifth full-length, which bears the title ‘Omegaphilia’ and will be released on June 9th.

The pitch-black track “Apophatic Weaponry”

MERRIMACK comment: “For this song, as on the whole album, we wanted to come back to something more rooted in the 90’s. With a less complex structure, and a sound not as modern and claustrophobic as on our latest albums, ‘Apophatic Weaponry’ still has our characteristic moody atmosphere with some crawling mid-tempos riffs. This is especially noticeable on the second half of the track. Our lyrics are dealing with the special connection between beings and their faith, even though it is constructed on a void trying to fill in another vacant space of nothingness. The divine cannot be observed, demonstrated, except by its consequences. In the end, this is the definition of faith as opposed to reason. This concept of negative theology is a mystical approach towards the divine that attempts to describe it through the impossibility of describing it. Eckhart. Jacob Böhme and most of the German mystics tried to increase their faith with such notions.”

MERRIMACK are furthermore unveiling the cover art by Dehn Sora and track-list of ‘Omegaphilia’, which can both be viewed below.

“The lyric for “Asuric Being” is inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophical concept of Asuras -„Spirit of Darkness” or spirit of Self-hood (egoism). It has a lot of archaic references and a history that long pre-dates Christianity. A truly great concept that has become a big source of inspiration to me. As for the music, you may notice how much we have refined the formula since „Crusade”. „Tremendum” is a profound, organic and adventurous album. We are really proud of it!”

Sólstafir premiere first new song of forthcoming album

SÓLSTAFIR are now revealing the first magical song of their forthcoming sixth full-length. The new masterpiece of the enigmatic Icelandic rockers is entitled ‘Berdreyminn’, which means a “dreamer of forthcoming events” and will be out in stores on May 26th.

SÓLSTAFIR comment: “Our first premiere song ‘Ísafold’ came very spontaneously to light. It felt like the spirit of THIN LIZZY paid us a visit that day. Adding a classic Phil Rudd beat to that seemed the only right thing to do. This is not the most typical SÓLSTAFIR track but in some odd way it could be taken to represent this album. For such a short song, it offers many different sonic landscapes. And although we are not re-inventing the wheel and you will find many references to ‘classics’ as tributes, I find it quite different from anything that we have done before. That is the way, I like it and to me ‘Ísafold’ is already an all-time favourite among all our tracks.”

Brooklyn hard rock legends LIFE OF AGONY have completed work on their new album and Napalm Records debut A Place Where There’s No More Pain. The album will be released April 28th via Napalm Records. After a long wait, it is finally time to unleash the first taste of new music from LOA.

“We have a long history of connecting to our fans on an emotional level through our words and music,” says bassist/lyricist Alan Robert.“And that’s why I think there’s something really relevant and timeless about the message behind the title track, ‘A Place Where There’s No More Pain’. With their second album, “The Longed-For Reckoning”, FALL OF CARTHAGE prove their intentions are serious. After numerous live shows within the last few months, it’s clear this is not just a sideproject of Arkadius Antonik ( Official SuidAkrA , Realms of Odoric) and Martin Buchwalter ( Perzonal War ), who pulled Sascha Aßbach in front of the mic after a long absence from the music scene.

Sixteen songs represent a genre-defying creativity and joy for experimentation, as well as, their love for detail and natural sounds. Those who expect programmed blast-beats and typical Thrash or Metalcore structures will be in for a surprise. What you get is much more.

Their sound can be described somewhere between groove metal, hardcore and rap without having the feeling of simply throwing sounds together. The versatility of Sascha’s vocals is convincing in its full spectrum. Thanks to the solid and elaborate songwriting that all band members were involved in from the beginning, the new tracks are catchy without getting boring.

FOC have grown together musically, and so “The Longed-For Reckoning” will surely be a highlight for 2017.

Like the debut, “Behold,” this album was produced at Gernhart Studio in#Troisdorf, and promises a fat ass sound with superb mixing. Be on the lookout for “The Longed-For Reckoning”.
