Sólstafir have hit the road in Europe

SÓLSTAFIR have kicked off the first European tour in support of their latest full-length ‘Beyrdreyminn’ with a celebrated performance at the Download Festival in Paris last weekend. The enigmatic Icelandic rockers will continue to perform in England, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and France before a final show at the Spanish edition of Download in Madrid on June 24th.

SÓLSTAFIR commented on the tour: “We are stoked to be back on the road and doing up ‘n close personal club shows between summer festivals. Some of the small venues are expected to sell out fast – so better get your ticket right away.”

King Leviathan announce debut album ‘Paean Heretica’, due out 5th August on Infernum Records

King Leviathan, hailing from Brighton UK have gathered quite the following since releasing their critically acclaimed 2015 E.P ‘The Shrine’, spreading their “Black Mass” to Bloodstock Open Air and several iterations of Mammothfest as well as touring the UK with the likes of Wretched Soul, Abhorrent Decimation and Meta-Stasis.

The south coast act have become known for their combination of extreme thrash and groove metal vibes with hints of black metal, providing whirlwinds of guitar shreds. On top of that Adam Sedgwick‘s vocal capability has vastly improved since ‘The Shrine’, he makes switching from a power singing voice to furiously aggressive shouts seem effortless.

Now, the blackened thrash four-piece have just announced details for their eagerly awaited debut album, ‘Paean Heretica‘, which has been two years in the making. It is King Leviathan’s darkest and heaviest work to date, encompassing themes of loss, abandonment, blind faith and what comes after death.

The album is a nine track, 45 minute collection of ‘psalms’ which were recorded and mixed by Paul ‘Win’ Winstanley at Brighton Electric Studios, mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Revocation, Motorhead, Baroness) and with art by Alex Norman (Guns ‘n’ Roses, Opeth, Katatonia, Sylosis).

ALTER BRIDGE Announce Two Very Special Nights At The Royal Albert Hall!

Following their jaw-dropping set at Download Festival this weekend, US rock giants ALTER BRIDGE have announced their return to the UK for two very special headline shows on October 2nd and 3rd.

Appearing at the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London for the first time, the band will treat the audience to an array of songs never before played live as well as fan favourite hits, drawn from their acclaimed five album catalogue. In another first, the group will also be accompanied by the Parallax Orchestra – a 52-piece London-based symphony orchestra conducted by Simon Dobson – adding an impressive new dimension to their already captivating live show.

ALTER BRIDGE will release a new live album and rarities collection, ‘Live At The O2 Arena + Rarities’, on September 8th via Napalm Records. The ‘Rarities’ disc adds another ten rare/never released before songs. This incredible selection will be available in multiple formats. Season of Mist are proud to announce the signing of IMPUREZA. Not counting the compilation of earlier material, the Spanish flamenco death metal extremists will release their sophomore album via Season of Mist.

Founded in 2004, IMPUREZA are playing Hispanic Extreme Metal. For more than ten years, the French-Spanish band has been pioneering their unique style, which combines Iberian soundscapes with a solid base of death metal.

The traditional part of their musical heritage is expressed through means such as the use of acoustic folk guitars, flamenco rhythm patterns, and exclusively Spanish lyrics. This concept derives from the interest of founding member Lionel Cano Muñoz and his “compañero” Esteban Martín, who are both of Spanish origin and draw inspiration from their identity.

Esteban Martín adds his multiple vocal facets that range from death metal growling to clean singing inspired by the sadly late gitano-legend CAMARÓN DE LA ISLA among others. In a similar way, Lionel Cano Muñoz shifts between the aggression and power of his 7-string electric guitar and the intricacy of the Spanish flamenco guitar. This is backed up by Florian Saillard, who complements the electric string section with his 6-string bass and the flamenco parts with an acoustic bass guitar. Even more string power is added live by rhythm guitarist Olivier Hanoulle. Last but not least, drummer Guilhem Auge is perfectly complementing the band with his unique rhythm patterns and Hispanic groove.

IMPUREZA have been amused to find the nickname “French Nile” being attached to them at times for combining the ferocity of death metal with “exotic” sounds. The band’s influences range from BEHEMOTH and MORBID ANGEL to PACO DE LUCÍA.

The Spanish-French outfit quickly gained a reputation of an excellent live act, which was well earned by capturing audiences across Europe alongside acts such as GOJIRA, SUFFOCATION, CATTLE DECAPITATION, and BENIGHTED as well as performing at prestigious festivals such as Hellfest, Motocultor, and Wacken Open Air – the latter as winners of the W.O.A Metal Battle France.

IMPUREZA first created a buzz within the underground metal scene by the release of three demos ‘Y Correra Tu Sangre’ (2005), ‘Ruina De La Penitencia’ (2006), and ‘En El Desierto De La Creencia’ (2007) – all of which were compiled under the heading ‘Inquisition Demos’ in 2007 – as well as two split-contributions on the ‘Tworzenia, Resurrezione, Démence’ (2006) and ‘Reincremation’ (2007) samplers. These prepared the ground for the band’s acclaimed debut full-length ‘La Iglesia Del Odio’ (2010), which considerably widened their international following – a trend that continued with the following 2013 EP ‘El Nuevo Reino De Los Ahorcados / Leyenda Negra’.

Taking their time to refine their self-developed, unique style and to come to terms with several changes in the line-up, IMPUREZA are now preparing to spearhead Hispanic Extreme Metal worldwide. World of Tanks collaborates with Swedish Heavy Metal Band SABATON!

Metal gods collide on June 12th as indigo at The O2 plays host to the 15th annual Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, in association with Orange Amplification. The event attracts greats from the rock and metal industry and fans from across the world. So, it’s natural that Wargaming andWorld of Tanks are involved, which marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the game and the heavy metal band SABATON.

For Wargaming and its millions of players, the combination of history and epic music is a huge part of their gaming scene. Not only is SABATON a big influence for fans of the game, but the band themselves love playing World of Tanks when they have some time between the shows. It just goes to show that this kind of united inspiration brings a massively diverse bunch of people together to share their passion…and blow stuff up.

This year won’t be SABATON’s first tour of the Metal Hammer Golden God Awards. In 2011, the band won the Breakthrough Band Award and was nominated in 2012, which was sponsored by Wargaming. Having performed in 2012, it only seems right that on the 15th anniversary of the event SABATON returns.

The band have influences from various styles such as technical, brutal, old school and slam death metal, black metal and grindcore. There are three equal-footed growlers in the band which makes them very versatile. The album was recorded at Suomenlinnan Studio by Viktor Gullichsenin (Brymir) and he is also featuring in the album’s opening track “River Of Corpses”
