After finishing strong of tour dates with Meshuggah in the UK and Arch Enemy in Central Europe, Swedish Thrash Metallers THE HAUNTED have been busy these last weeks with the recording and mixing process of their upcoming, 9th studio album effort. Recorded at Parlour Studios in the UK with producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, The Exploited), the album is entitled “Strength In Numbers” and will be released worldwide via Century Media Records on August 25th, 2017.
THE HAUNTED’s guitarist Ola Englund has checked in with the following comment: “Working on “Strength In Numbers” with Russ Russell as an engineer and producer has been an incredible experience. His attitude and positivity has helped us to truly do our best when recording. He’s just a killer guy to be around!”, before adding: “All the tracking for the album has been completed and Russ is right in the middle of mixing and mastering it. And from the early mixes I’ve heard, it’s shaping up to be insanely heavy. No clean singing, no banjo, no pickup trucks…so fans of country music are gonna hate it, haha! Seriously: Heads are gonna roll. In a good way…”
A video teaser from recording sessions can now be seen here:

Finnish thrash metal band Justice Theory has released a new single!
Their third single ”Welcome To The Family” is released today March 26th 2017. Valtteri came up with lyrics that/which fitted perfectly to an energetic spirit of the song. Idea for lyrics came from that raw aggressiveness and speedy going, which eventually got the band decide that this would definitely be their next single to release. More specifically, the lyrics tell about a person/ a guy/ citizen, who has had enough of this world shackled by foolish standards and limitations. He builds a family of rebels which starts to riot against the world of restrictive rules.
A comment from Valtteri :
In the beginning we decided that our next single is going to be cheery, high-powered track. We took few steps back from massiveness and melodiousness that our previous single “Unbroken” was all about. Welcome To The Family is highly inspired by our first single “Necessary Evil” and also has the vibes that Anthrax were been able to bring in their songs – Not too seriously, but convincingly. I think that we managed to get what we wanted in this song, and I’m quite sure that it will be one of the highlights on our upcoming shows. IT ROCKS!
This song is dedicated to our dearest friends and fans, who are supported and believed in us from the very beginning. We are more than happy to see that you guys are out there! So huge thank you all!

Fall Of Carthage – The Longed-For Reckoning
Review by Carina Lawrence / Dark Art Conspiracy
This German thrash trio came together in 2014 to push boundaries and create something unique and genre defying. And in a short space of time have proven that this is not just a side project of Arkadius Antonik (SuidAkrA, Realms Of Odoric) and Martin Buchwalter (Perzonal War), who brought Sascha Aßbach on vocals, after a long absence from the music scene. They released their debut album ‘Behold’ in 2015 and now in 2017 they want to take their sound even further with their sophomore album, ‘The Longed For Reckoning’. Dark Art Conspiracy were proud to premiere the new album before the release…

Opening track and first single ‘Fast Forward’ breaks us in with a delicate, beautiful and eerie intro before the full darkness is unleashed and packs a hefty punch, with hints of other popular hard rock/metal bands such as Five Finger Death Punch coming through. The crashing drums and rapid chunky riffs drive the song with fierce and powerful vocals from Sascha Aßbach which fit in perfect harmony with the heavy backdrop of carnage…
‘Sick Intentions’ is a relentless slab of heaviness with wicked guitar riffs and ferocious and skilled drumming giving it a very belligerent sound. The chorus is reigned in for effect, but makes a massive impact which is very memorable. Their delivery has industrial and raw elements, offering great variety in and within each song. ‘Swept To The Edge’ is an infectiously catchy head banging anthem which possesses such authority and all-consuming presence, this see’s the band at their best.
They offer some breathing space amongst the brutality and mix things up by switching to a serene yet slightly unnerving sound with the likes of ‘Complete’ being reassuring and almost therapeutic, with lines such as “Breathe In, Breathe Out” before the full instruments kick in for high impact – this is cleverly structured and delivered. The band have many surprises up their sleeve…
The interestingly titled, “Whodini Peckawood” goes back to the rap metal vibes seen earlier and ties in with ‘Complete’ offering a more stripped back approach. This is a bad ass rap with limited vocals largely consisting off “Whodini motherfucker, peckawood motherfucker” conveyed in an unhinged manner, before trailing off into what sounds like a ritualistic tribe chant…well that was unexpected…
They truly flourish when they are rampaging on the heavier side with must hear songs, ‘Paint In White’ and ‘Bury The Crisis’ which features anthemic gang vocals that keep adrenaline running high.
Final track, ‘Black December’ embraces the best parts of the band’s sound, and therefore makes a forceful lasting impression once more.
Sascha Aßbach is an interesting and impressive vocalist, managing to combine elements of many legendary metal front-men such as Corey Tayler, Robb Flynn and even a touch of Phil Anselmo, this is a compliment, however on the other hand, it makes it slightly harder to define the bands signature sound with many comparisons flying about, but on the whole they do maintain their ground and signature flair.
This second release offers many different sounds, making it largely experimental, ranging from industrial vibes to rap and even a glimpse of grunge thrown in for good measure. It should appeal too many, however it may leave some metal heads a little bemused, but generally it provides something for everyone, and shows the band aren’t afraid to digress and explore other territories, rather than just a full blown thrash assault. Whatever direction they do, whether it be a rap medley or an all hell breaks loose metal anthem, they are giving it their all and should be highly praised for this.
Score: 4/5

the demotape “Sicilian Way of Thrash!!” in 2012 and in the first days of 2013 the
new EP “Mission of Blood” 5 tracks of Pure Thrash, released on limited “green” tape
for Tridroid Records in October 2013. In January 2014 Iron Shield Records has

How would you describe your sound?
Evil Speed Thrash Metal.
You recorded your first demotape “Sicilian Way of Thrash’ back in 2012,
how would you say your sound has progressed since the beginning days of
the band?
The progression of the sound it’s evident, in the first days we were more influenced
by American death metal of ’90/’91, now our sound it’s a commingling of the great
heavy metal of the ’80s with more speed metal tendencies.
How happy were you with the sound and response to your first full length
2014 album “Mission of Blood”?
Yeah, we had great responses with our first full length “Mission of Blood”, from the
audience in our live show and with the media (radios, ‘zine, etc…).
How do you think your sound has evolved since then?
In the right way, our music grows with us. Now we’re very pride of the new album
“Master of the Dead”, 10 new songs of evil speed metal. More aggressive but with a
touch of melody.
What can you tell us about your second upcoming new album “Master Of The
Dead” which is unleashed on March 3rd this year?

Album artwork for “Master Of The Dead”
What was the recording and song writing process like for the new album?
We start with guitar riffs and after this process we make the lyrics.
What were the main influences behind the album?
All the good music, ’80 heavy metal (metal blade era and NWOBHM) thrash fuckin’
metal & and a couple of speed freaks to play this!!!
