Rikard Sjöblom’s Gungfly Sign to InsideOutMusic; new album to be released in May

Following last years disbanding of Sweden’s much-loved progressive rockers Beardfish, vocalist and driving force Rikard Sjöblom has turned his attention to his solo project Gungfly, and signed with InsideOutMusic for the release of their next album ‘On Her Journey To The Sun’ on 19th May 2017.
Rikard had this to say: “Gungfly was born out of necessity, songs came to life whenever there was downtime with Beardfish or if a song didn’t quite fit within Beardfish’s (otherwise quite broad and eclectic) frame of styles. I basically started recording songs, mainly pop-oriented material, but being the type of songwriter and musician I am, some prog slipped through the radar as well. With the break-up of Beardfish all of the prog-related material I write needed to go somewhere and Gungfly was ready and able for this step!”

“I recorded what was to become the first album between 2007 – 2008 and it was released in 2009. The name Gungfly is a Swedish word meaning unsecure ground, and it came from a novel I read where it was used to describe that someone didn’t have grounds to back up their statements, so I liked it and chose to call the project that!” Rikard continues: “I’ve always been writing and recording lots of music and when I formed the live band to perform these songs for the first time I got to pick some of my oldest friends to play with and thankfully they wanted to be part of it! Petter and Rasmus Diamant (yes, they’re brothers) on drums and bass have always been the backbone foundation in this line-up and sometimes we actually do gigs as the Gungfly trio. Sverker Magnusson has been behind the keys since the start and was recently joined by Martin Borgh too to be able to cover all of the keyboard work on the albums, so sometimes we do three keyboard players on stage at the same time! This is made possible by the fact that guitarist David Zackrisson (Beardfish) is in the band as well. Me then? I do what I’ve always done; sing, play guitars and a bunch of vintage keyboards (mainly Hammond organ) – and I have lots of fun.”

Rikard Sjöblom is perhaps best known as the multi-instrumentalist frontman of Beardfish, who established themselves as one of the most consistently brilliant modern-day progressive rock bands over the course of eight studio albums. In recent years, he has also become known for his work with English progressive collective Big Big Train, playing live with them as well as performing on their 2016 album ‘Folklore’. That year also marked the release of his most recent solo album under his own name, ‘The Unbendable Sleep’.

DREAM EVIL – Announce new album “SIX”; Unveil cover artwork and launch first album trailer!

Long years have passed since the last time Swedish powerhouse DREAM EVIL unleashed their brand of Metal. That silence is about to be shattered with the release of their new in-your-face sixth album, aptly titled “SIX”, on May 26th, 2017 via Century Media Records.

Succeeding 2010’s “In The Night” release, “SIX” has been once again produced by DREAM EVIL guitarist Fredrik Nordström at his own Studio Fredman facilities, which is obviously the birth place of many modern Metal masterpieces by bands such as In Flames, Arch Enemy, HammerFall, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir, Powerwolf or also Architects and Bring Me The Horizon.

DREAM EVIL checked in with the following comment about the upcoming release:“Finally, SIX years after the release of ‘In The Night’ we started to record our new album entitled ‘SIX’, which is DREAM EVIL’s album number SIX. We know it took us a while to get our thumbs out of our asses, but now the wait is over and we are sure the new material has made the waiting time worthwhile. On May 26th the time is here, it’s time for ‘SIX’.”

While DREAM EVIL are currently busy shooting video clips for the new album with longtime partner in visuals Patric Ullaeus / www.revolver.se (In Flames, Lacuna Coil, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Within Temptation, etc.), here is already a first trailer for “SIX”:

Beware! The sheer amount of fierceness on HATE’s upcoming album is beyond anything these Polish Extreme Black / Death metallers have ever done before! Fast and well-defined songs set a new standard in the band’s songwriting, while the structure of the songs let you submerge in them as soon as you press play.

See it for yourself with the lyric video premiere for the first track off Tremendum. Watch “Asuric Being

HATE bandleader  ATF Sinner on the story behind “Asuric Being”:
“The lyric for “Asuric Being” is inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophical concept of Asuras -„Spirit of Darkness” or spirit of Self-hood (egoism). It has a lot of archaic references and a history that long pre-dates Christianity. A truly great concept that has become a big source of inspiration to me. As for the music, you may notice how much we have refined the formula since „Crusade”. „Tremendum” is a profound, organic and adventurous album. We are really proud of it!”

Der Weg Einer Freiheit Announces new bass player

DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT officially welcome bass player Nico Ziska as their newest member to the band.

Vocalist Nikita Kamprad comments: “We welcome our good friend and former part-time merch guy Nico as the new bassist of DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT! He has been around for many years now and after temporarily being reduced to a three-piece on stage, we felt it was about time to fill the vacant position. Our first joint rehearsals went well beyond expectations and now we can hardly wait to hit the stage with our new full line-up again. Our forthcoming album is being scheduled for release at this very moment and new shows and festivals are being booked. Get ready for our return!

At this point again we want to thank our former bassist Giuliano for his dedication and input over the past years. He won’t be forgotten. Giuliano even left some traces on our next album as you will find out in time!”

DWEF by Sophia Weißberg

Nico comments on his joining of the band: “After having known these guys for some years now and being into their music since the first album it is a huge honour for me to join the band as their new bassist. Since Nikita and I come from the same area in Germany we have built up a strong friendship over the years and I am more than grateful for this chance. This means a new and exciting challenge for me and I am ready to take it.”

Black metal remains a musical chimera. From its fiery beginnings this extreme style proved to be as diverse as productive. German sons of this northern spawned darkness often display a penchant for bold aggression and directness as embodied by ENDSTILLE and NEGATOR. These virtues are also embraced byDER WEG EINER FREIHEIT. Yet the Franconians do not simply follow heavily trodden paths. Adding fragile moments of psychedelic meandering, these Germans have also been compared with WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM or DEAFHEAVEN. An extra dose of melancholy points towards their named influence IMPERIUM DEKADENZ and there are far more details to be discovered within the many layers of their harsh but strongly melodic new masterpiece ‘Stellar’. Founded in 2009 by guitarist Nikita Kamprad and vocalist Tobias Jaschinsky, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT immediately gained attention in Germany with their self released debut ‘Der Weg einer Freiheit’ (2009). Limited to 200 copies the full-length quickly sold out and a new and improved version with real drumming was officially published in 2010. Following the EP ‘Agonie’ (2011), their sophomore album ‘Unstille’ (2012) created a strong buzz beyond German borders despite all lyrics being written in their native tongue. Having performed along such diverse acts as WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, NEAERA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, and WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH prestigious festivals such as Summer Breeze Open Air and Wolfszeit Festival invited the band. In 2014 DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT impressed a Norwegian audience at Blastfest in Bergen to the point that they received immediate offers for further shows. In the meantime main songwriter Nikita Kamprad had taken over vocal duties after co-founding member Tobias had quit. In late autumn, the Germans entered Ghost City Recording studios to work on their third full-length ‘Stellar’, which is now ready to hit the world with irresistible force. Get ready and brace for a massive black impact!
