And Now The Owls Are Smiling – Dirges

UK Atmospheric Black Metal

Dawn’s first light begins to unwind its weary fingers through the splayed branches of the naked, sleeping trees. The winter air is like crystal, numbing your mouth, freezing your throat and riming your lungs in a fragile cage of hoar frost. The pale sun holds no warmth and your blood becomes sluggish, like an ice choked stream, as you stand at the end of your path – slowly, quietly dying. Your last breath drifts between your lips in a small, soft cloud and a lone, black bird begins to sing an unheard lament for your passing.

VILE CYNIC – NEW VILE INTERVIEW WITH Jake Meditz

1.Introduce yourself and your band and tell us why we should listen to you.

I’m Jake Meditz, I play in Vile Cynic. You should check us out if you’re into fast paced metal with catchy hooks, blast beats, pummeling double bass and groove. We are all into different types of metal so we combine a lot of influences in our music so they all have a different feeling and vibe to them.

2.What do you classify your sound as, Who do you tell people you sound like?

I’m really not sure who to compare our sound to. I’ve never put much thought into it. Our influences and writing are all over the place. We just classify ourselves as Metal basically. If we feel like writing a black metal influenced song, then so be it, we might add in some Maiden inspired harmonies as well. Just whatever we’re feeling.

GODSNAKE – Poison Thorn

With “Poison Thorn”, GODSNAKE presents an album that is full of heavy riffs combined with hook lines that
stay with you!

The guys have switched their focus from rock parts to metal, while providing a heavy sound that makes the
feet move, encourages people to bang their heads, jump up and down and get lost in the groove.
GODSNAKE want to see everyone enjoying themselves both on and in front of the stage. They want to offer
catchy melodies that stay with people even when the song is already over.
When it came to the recording and production of their debut album “Poison Thorn”, choosing the right partner
was a no-brainer: Lasse Lammert lives and breathes metal, and has already worked with many great bands
of this genre.
He already did a tremendous job with GODSNAKE’s previous 4-track EP, so GODNAKE didn’t think twice
about teaming up with him again for their new album as he understands the band’s vision of mighty and
heavy guitars combined with a modern attitude.
Of course, he did a stellar job again, leaving GODSNAKE satisfied and happy with the final result.

Hailing from from Pamplona in the north of Spain, KABBALAH was formed on the ashes of local outfit Las Culebras, looming in the dark, esoteric realms of witchcraft and closed door arts. The trio started a prolific cycle of music by self-releasing three EPs (‘Kabbalah’, ‘Primitive Stone’ and ‘Revelations’) between 2013 and 2016, progressing to their 2017 debut album ‘Spectral Ascent’. With their garage-sounding, 70s-style hard rock and Coven–inspired occult atmospheres draped over the bones of Black Sabbath and Blue Öyster Cult, the Spanish power trio has been well received among followers of the darkest sounds.
